Problem is in either power supply or the Y-Sustain board.

The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.

Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those.

if they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.
take care in handling the set....

try pushing the buttons on the tv itself instead of remote control

Unplug the power cable. While unplugged, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Release and repeat for another 30 seconds. Plug it back in and try to turn it on.

after I believe 5 hours, it will shut itself off as a powersaver setting. you can set this to on/off in your tv setup.

First check all the cables make sure they are plugged in Second make sure the input is set to tv or whatever input goes to your cable box

If you have a Maxent MX-42hpm20, it has the following connections: Component, S-Video, Composite, HDMI and VGA. There is no tuner included as it was sold as a monitor.

You need a set top tuner box (cable box or a OTA tuner - depending on your set up). One option may be to install a tuner on your computer and then connect the computer to the monitor. If you have digital cable, make sure the tuner handles Clear QAM. If OTA, then you can use a digital-to-analog converter set top box.

It is an indication that you have a dry joints on the crt neck board.
Resoldering the dry joints on that area will cure the problem.
Crt neck board is the one connected to your picture tube.
