I hooked an antenna up and can't get a picyure!
I assume you have tried to retune the TV & angle the antenna in different positions. Very often, due to the location of your home & the strength of signal in that area, you usually find that , no matter what you try, an indoor antenna is just not strong enough to pick up in a weak reception area. The only alternative is to try & add a signal booster onto it or much better still ( and a lot less future reception problems) is to rig up an outdoor antenna.

- Turn on the TV manually.Tune in to channel 1.
- Keep keys 1 and 3 pressed simultaneously for three seconds until the LED flashes twice and then remains lit
- Then enter 4 digit code. The LED will now flash twice and thenremains lit. The code has now been stored in the memory of the SRU5010.
If the LED flashes once for an extended period, the code has notbeen entered properly or the wrong code has been entered. Start again from step 2.
- Point the SRU 5010 at the TV and check that it responds as it should. If the TV responds to all of the key commands, the SRU 5010 is readyfor use. Do not forget to note your code.

Why does my on timer
Sounds like the power supply needs to be replaced with the symptoms given. Any person with electrical experience will be able to put a new one in. These tvs are starting to be outdated, so if you are looking for an excuse to upgrade to an LCD tv, now would be the time. Otherwise, let me know how this turns out.

Our JVC tv suddenly turns off and then it turns on again.....
http://maps.jvc.com/cAscList/ This is a web link to the JVC customer support website for local JVC service centers. The web site also has the factory service centers if your television is still under warranty. The television is having problems with intermittent component failure and needs to be tested and evaluated by a service center. The service center will have all the service information and parts to repair your television. If you are not under warranty you can ask for a estimate of the repair cost plus shipping and handling to figure out if the television is worth repairing or not. Find the service center nearest to you and give them a call, tell them the model number of your television and explaine the problem you are having with the television. Try to get a estimate of the cost of the repair over the telephone. This estimate may not be accurate as they cannot tell what is wrong with the television unitil the actually open it up and test it. They might be able to give you a ballpark figure. I hope this information helps you understand the problem your television is having and helps you solve that problem. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day!

I've been fixing consumer electronics for years. If you know what you are doing it's usually extremely cheap to fix.. ie: bad solder joint, blown horizontal oscillator transistor, bad capacitor etc... Parts are cheap.. it's the labor that kills folks which is why I do all my own work.. but then again I have a Electrical Engineering degree. You need to decide how much you would be willing to spend on this TV. Most folks throw them away (unfortunetly) because a typical shop will charge $200 plus to fix these types of issues. So either you learn how to fix this yourself.. lots of help on the internet or pay someone else or donate / recycle it. Or find someone like me that fixes stuff for their friends and family for the price of the parts.
