You might just need to clean the head, Servisol Video 40 is best.
Tape eater
Very common problem when tape feeder wears out. It takes a bit of soldiering and testing to replace the feeder. Honestly, I would just get a new one.
Put tape in new video cassette
TAKING A GOOD QUALITY TAPE FROM ONE CASETTE AND MOVE TO ANOTHER WITHOUT HARMING THE TAPE QUALITY:
TAKE A NEW, GOOD CASETTE AND UNSCREW THE 5 SCREWS HOLDING THE TWO PARTS OF THE CASETTE TOGETHER. AT THIS POINT DO NOT OPEN THE CASETTE. TURN THE CASETTE UPSIDE DOWN (SO THAT THE SIDE WHERE THE SCREWS CAME OUT IS NOW SITTING DOWNWARDS ON A FLAT SURFACE) IF YOU OPEN THE CASETTE BEFORE TURNING IT UPSIDE DOWN, ALL KINDS OF SMALL PIECES WILL FALL OUT AND YOU WILL NOT KNOW WHERE THEY CAME FROM. NOW GENTLY SEPARATE THE TWO PARTS OF THE CASETTE AND PAY ATTENTION TO EXACTLY WHERE THE TAPE RUNS THROUGH VARIOUS SPINDLES, ETC. MAKE A SKETCH IF THIS WILL HELP YOU. GENTLY LIFT OUT THE TAPE AND REPLACE IT WITH THE TAPE THAT WAS IN THE BROKEN CASETTE. THIS IS ASSUMING THAT THE ONLY DAMAGE WAS TO THE CASETTE ITSELF AND NOT THE TAPE. REPLACE THE TOP PART OF THE CASETTE (WITH THE SCREW HOLDS STILL FACING DOWNWARDS). HOLDING THE TWO PIECES OF THE CASETTE TIGHTLY TOGETHER, TURN IT OVER AND REPLACE THE SCREWS. TRY NOT TO HANDLE THE TAPE ITSELF. I HAVE USED RIGHT FITTING SURGEON'S GLOVES WHILE DOING THIS, BUT REALLY DON'T KNOW IF THEY HELP, BUT THEY DO KEEP THE NATURAL OILS OF THE FINGERS OFF THE TAPE.
Too fast playback of video cassette
Hi,
Initially, I am inclined to think that
nothing is wrong. It is just most likely that that particular tape was recorded in a different
speed other than what your VCR is capable of playing. This is a form of compression wherein a longer recording/playing time is squeezed into the same type/kind of tape. The various settings are SP, LP, EP or even an XP. Pls click
here to give you an idea of the recording time/speed at different settings.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
JVC HR -J655EK Video Stuck
Hi hannah. The simplest way to remove stuck tapes is to remove the top cover. Usually just a couple of screws. Then remove the stuck tape and put the cover back into place. You can also look for emergency eject hole and insert a snall pin into the hole and attempt to eject the disc while repeatedly twisting the pin inside the hole.
Good luck!

Does it have any lights at all coming on? If not then the power
supply has failed. You can try and replace the internal fuse, but
that rarely is the cause of the problem (unless you got a power
transient just enough to pop the fuse but nothing else). More
likely, the power supply is dead and not worth replacing unless it is a
high end model. If you take a chance and replace the P/S,
sometimes the circuitry (microprocessor brain) is toast as well which
is not repairable.
JVC video recorder - replacing rubber band
Not spinning disc
If it spins with a little help from yourself replace the spindle motor with improved motor, part number: RXQ0749A
Unable to detect discs
The laser head was the culprit. Replacing it fixed the problem. (Laser head code GRP6278A)
Dew indicator is on permanently. Cannot play or record tapes. No dew present - caused by internal fault
This Camcorder uses very fragile flexible circuits to interconnect the
PCB's. They plug in to edge connectors. It seems that when they made
these camcorders at the factory, they had as many problems getting
these film flexy circuits back into the connectors as us service
engineers have. I saw one unit that had a crease in the flexy circuit
which had caused a hair-line fracture. Solution, trace the wiring and
solder a sub-miniature wire across the broken track. Don't disturb any
flexy connectors that you don't need to. This camcorder is a **** to
work on
Not loading properly
Usually due to incorrect head alignment or dirty head, or failure of LM324 op-amp
Doesn't record properly, ie: looks like one channel is down when recorded, pre-recorded tapes are ok
Check Q008 for dry joints
Tape stuck in VCR
First locate the load and unload motor, it is the one with the rubber
drive band. release the drive band and rotate the gear to raise and
pull the carriage back into position.
This should remove your cassette, and put the carriage back into position.

Eagle
Tape is stuck in VCR- Fast rewind and forward
It may need to be cleaned. Mechanical problems are one of the big problems with VCRs they use alot of mechanical moving parts and play for so long they fail. Plastic parts dont help much either. The pinch roller takes up the slack and is usualy the part that fails first because it constantly runs along the tape and builds a coating on the rubber so it doesnt grip the tape and pull it back into the cassette. If its not pulling the tape back in then it hangs up inside and you cant get the tape out. Fastforward uses the reels to pull the tape not so much the roller.
Try and stop 2 times then fast forward then eject the tape. Try and eject the tape while its fastforwarding so it doesnt do anything else.
Sometimes machines will unload after its been in fastforwad a while then it will eject. You will hear a change in the sound when it unloads, you can hear the mechanical arms move the tape in and out of the cassette. Thats when you eject it. You cant really clean it till you get the tape out.
YOu can clean the pinch roller with fingernail polish or paint remover. It is a wheel inside it looks like a black tire. It pinches the tape against the capstan arm this is why it developes a film or a shine on the rubber making it slip.
Eaten tape
Can?t help you with the price, but it sounds as if the problem is a loose pin that might have gotten loose in the eaten tape incident. Maybe you should get a second opinion.
My JVC TV has an onscreen remote that doesn't let us use the actual remote what do I do to gat it out?
Hello! If your JVC TV is displaying an onscreen remote and you're unable to use the actual remote, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:
- Power cycle the TV: Turn off the TV and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can often reset any temporary issues and restore the functionality of the actual remote.
- Replace the remote batteries: Check the batteries in your remote control and make sure they have enough power. If the batteries are low, replace them with fresh ones and try using the remote again.
- Check the remote control sensor: Ensure that there are no obstructions between the remote control and the TV's remote control sensor. Clean the remote control sensor on the TV with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove any dust or debris that may be interfering with the signal reception.
- Reset the TV to factory settings: If the issue persists, you can try resetting the TV to its factory settings. Keep in mind that this will erase any personalized settings and restore the TV to its original configuration. Refer to the user manual or the manufacturer's website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset on your specific JVC TV model.
- Contact JVC customer support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's recommended to reach out to JVC customer support for further assistance. They will have access to more specific troubleshooting steps and can guide you through the process of resolving the issue with the onscreen remote.
Keep in mind that the exact steps and options may vary depending on your specific JVC TV model. Refer to the user manual or contact JVC customer support for model-specific guidance.
