If cleaning the laser lens with a cleaning disk doesn't help, then it may be time to take it back and get a refund. Good luck.

Sounds like your laser lens is dirty. Cleaning disc usually dosen't work. Have to clean lens with alcohol and cotton swab/q-tip. If this doesn't work the optical pick up assembly will have to be replaced.

This a memory problem ,try to look for the reset button and press it . If you can't find the reset button then the other option is unplug the unit for 24 hours the purpose is to reset and dessipate or drain the charged current .

Hope it may help you;

JVC recommends leaving the unit unplugged for 30 minutes to reseet the system - I'm trying that now, and will keep you posted!

Does your stereo have a childs lock? If it does; why? Anyway the cd open button could be defected. Possibily a loose connection on the cd open switch on the inside of the unit. Also dose the remote have this function? Check the battery. Clean the remote sensor on the front of the remote and on the stereo.

Hope this helps.

You have a bad speaker on this unit or the audio output circuit is in need of repair. Try to disconnect all of the speakers and then turn on the unit. If it still stays in protect, you will need to have this unit serviced, unless you understand how these solid state circuits work. If the unit does come on without the speakers, turn off the unit and add one speaker at a time until the unit will not turn on. Disconnect that speaker and have it checked out or have the wiring checked out. Good Luck
