This is probably a bad capacitor that has opened up in the audio section, I suggest a tv tech to check the set.

As far as picture and sound is there, your TV has problem at its video output stage. Purple coloured means there is no green emission occur in the picture tube. in otherwords green colour is absent in your TV. This type of fault is related to its video output stage only. Can it be a loose contact or transistor or Ic failure. As your tv is 36" screen size one, you must be cacious to take any repair by yoursef, because its final anode voltage comes around 27KVDC [27,000 VDC], and is dagerous to hold. Anyway I will guide you what to do.
First of all, you just give a small hit with your palm on the top of the cabinet of your TV or its side. Do not use any hard material, only use your hand, and see the colour becomes normal atleast for a second or not. If it comes normal this way, you can make sure that there is some loose soldering occured inside your TV. If it does not help at all, be sure there is some electronic component failure has occured.
If it is so you have to open your TVs back cover, not spoinling anything and cauciously. Keep the power cord of the tv from the wall socket before opening the TV. As you open the TV you first notice a circuit board attached to the base of the picture tube. It is called the base card. It is pluged into it with the help of a socket, and it can be detached from it by slight pull back. You shoud do this very causiouly because picture tube neck, where it is fitted is more thinner than other part of it and it is very nice.
Before pluging out it from the picture tube, keenly notify on its soldered joints for any kind of loose soldering hav or not. There are three cathodes emitting light of three different colours inside the neck of the picture tube. They are Red_Green_and Blue. In your Tv green catode is not emitting any light. Take the voltages of the other two cathodes Red and Blue. Compare this voltage to the voltage now at Green cathode. It will be higher than other two now in your TVs case. Normally all the three cathode voltages should be almost equal to each other, provided a small difference, say 3 to4 VDC is allowable. If the voltage at the Green cathode is found high, it is clear that the transistor or Ic connected as video output of that cathode is out, that is damaged. You should repace the same to make your TVs colour normal.
These are hot services, that is you can oly take voltages of the above mentioned points with your TV pluged into mains votage. All precautions should be taken before attempting anything. Keep children away from you, and let an adult be nearby. Do only if you have confidence and a liitle knowledge about the circutary. Otherwise get the service of an experienced service personal. Ok.

Have you measured the voltages at the collectors of the three video output transistors?. There must be a voltage over 124 to140VDC at least. All voltages at the base of that transistors should be between 2.5 to 3.75VDC according to the level of chroma signal from the chroma Ic.
You must check these voltages with a good quality digital or analogue multimeters, otherwise you will get only false values instead of the real. You just check the main voltage that goes to the video output stage, that is the high voltage comes to the crt base, from the main board. It should be more than 260VDC. Normally in all tvs this voltage is derived from the LOT. After rectifying it and filtered with a 10Mfd 350V capacitor, and given to the baseboard as the main supply to video output stage. If the smoothing capacitor [10Mfd] gets value changed, that is if it gets a low value due to age, otherwise whether it has an internal short, you won't get the above said 260VDC at the CRT base boad. At first locate this capacitor and replace it with a new one with same capacity and voltage ratings. and check all video output [ 3 of them] transitors too. Check the transistors for collector to emitter leak, not on circuit, but after take it out desoldered. Then only you will get the proper measurement of leak. Set the multimeter in MegOhms rage, and don't held the transistor by hand too. If you do so you will see some deflection in the meter due to your body resistance.
Check the capacitor first. Replace it. It is best. Check the rectifying diode that rectifies this voltage from the LOT winding. If it has a leak, you will get a low voltage at this rail.
Remember, LOT works at high frequecy. So the diode used there as retifier is a special type, fast recovery diode, and should be repaced with the same number. Never use ordinary diodes that we uses for line rectification purpose.
Remember, colector voltages at the video output transistors must be above 140VDC. Again recomends to use a good quality multimeter, as cheaper one cannot measure this voltage accurately.

If it works at 3 different houses, but not yours, then it might be the electrical wiring at your house. Try a different outlet in a different room. Make sure your electrical wiring is not too old, and needs to be updated. Check your circuit breaker panel, does it need to be updated?

Sound like bad tuner,or tuner circuitry.Instead of spending money,why don't you bypass the problem??

Ok this problem is a common one but if you never ran into it you wouldnt know. The small coil L401 from the secondary of the horizontal driver transformer to the base of the horizontal output transistor need to bee taken completely out. The enamel on the coil on both sides need to be scrapped off and NOT JUST RESOLDERED!! Then reinsert the coil into the printed circuiyt board, and then resolder. This is not a job for the amature or the di it yourselfer as way to much High Voltage to experiment with. Good Luck

If it was my TV I'd recycle it then buy a name brand set, Proscan sets are plagued with issues.

If it is a copy remote for the Proscan Model you have, it should work when you insert the batteries. If it is a Universal Remote, you need to put the Proscan Code into it.
