Hi and welcome to FixYa!

May I ask if you have stored several songs on the unit? You may need to free some data or recorded songs for you to record a new one. If the files are all free but still you can't record then the problem can be on the unit itself. It may have reached it's break point and the only cure is a reset from the dealer.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Here's a 2488 DVD tutorial. You may even find it elsewhere at a better price. It is of great help.

Assuming you are talking about your monitors for your 2488, the first thing I'd do is to consult the manual for proper placement of the monitors relative to the 2488. A quick rule of thumb is to place the monitors at ear level to the left and right of the 2488 so when you sit facing the 2488 yo will have one monitor facing each ear essentially. Again, consult your monitor manual as it will show the best placement and don't worry about electrical fields, etc. I have my monitors to the left and right of the 2488, the 2488 in the center and a 21" flat screen computer display in the center of all that with no problems whatsoever. That is the accepted practice generally speaking. Hope this helps.

If it's still under warranty, take it back if it does not work properly.

Turn on the 2488. SONG then LOAD then you should see a list of your songs on the screen. If you do not, they MAY be (some or all) on a different partition. See the manual concerning the partitions and how to get to them as it is a simple matter.

Hope this helps.

Thia may help as your question seems vague:

To remove time from the front of a recording, MARK IN point at 0 (ZERO)
Then mark the OUT point just before the song starts...this lgt of time is up to you.
Then, EDIT TRK and scroll to CUT then YES

Doing the above will cut out the marked are between the IN and OUT points. Exercise caution when doing this but you can always UNDO.

Hope this helps.

A little testing is required to nail this down.

1) Will a standard mic work in either channel?
2) Will a line level source work in either channel?

It is likely that either the power supply for the phantom power or the supply for the mic pre-amp IC has failed or the IC itself has failed. If a standard mic works, then it is the phantom power supply that is faulty.

I am not aware of any service manual available other than from Yamaha directly (for a price of course...)

If you can update this with the test results, perhaps we can walk through this repair.

Yes. Rather than pressing the track SELECT button to assign the effect, press one of the SOURCE buttons to the left of the EFFECTS. This will record the effect HARD to the track as oopposed to SOFT. SOFT being that the effect will NOT be recorded whereas HARD means it IS recorded and will be there anytime you play the track. NOTE: Just make sure that's the effect you want as it is then part of the track.

Simple answer = Yes. Make sure you have 2 mics plugged in two separate selected channels/tracks, arm the tracks then record. It will record both tracks. You can record up to 8 tracks at once using mics, guitars, etc.

In no certain order:
A - Rec on a different track each time
B - Use a virtual track (see manual for full explanation)
C - Use the UNDO feature to recall a previously recorded track

A good reading of the manual concerning virtual tracks may well be your best bet overall.
