Not turning on

take your tv to the w/shop,
fill the tempreture of your verticle ic, test it, if too hot, remove and put another one.
also test a capacitor, eletrolitic near that ic and feeding a verticle scan coil.
this will solve your problem, ok

16 yr old 25" Zenith..1st colors went yellow/lime now TV is dead

Absolutely not worth repair. You have described a classic symptom of Zenith picture tube failure, and about 99% of the time the main board in the TV is ruined as well. You've gotten good life from the set (manufacturers figure tube life is around 7 years these days), so it's time to replace it.

Captions only on certain channels?

Closed captioning isn't broadcast on every channel and program, so the information may not be present. Since captions are displayed on other channels, you know the set is working properly. If you are on a cable system you can try asking their customer service people if they know anything. But the TV is fine.

The volume doessnt go very high on my zenith 32' tube tv.

Hello daymakerserv,

Ok you are correct these sets have a master volume control accessible fro the remote control only. If you have the remote go to menu Audio settings and possibly advanced audio settings and you should see the master audio setting. Now you have to have the remote to do this. If you do not have the remote control, you will have to order them from the manufacture, they do have the model of remote that will work with these sets or they can provide an OEM remote that will allow you to access these functions. A universal remote may not work in gaining access to the master settings, so it is best to contact the manufacture and get either an exact replacement or one of the OEM models of remote.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Cannot connect zenith vcr to zenith tv thru cable box

Hello mcgillicu390,

From your VCR you should have an (RF OUT) and an (RF IN) Connector (these also might be marked as ANT IN and ANT OUT, or CABLE IN and CABLE OUT).

The same goes for your TV (RF IN), (ANT IN) or (CABLE IN).

Now, take your Coaxial Cable (Cable with screw on or Push on connector with a wire in the center of it) and connect it to the TV (RF IN), take the other end of the same cable and connect it to the VCR (RF OUT).

Then connect your cable TV set top box or antenna to the (RF IN) of the VCR.

If you are using a cable box set your VCR and TV to Channel 3 or 4 (depending on your area)

If you are just using the VCR and an antenna set your TV to channel 3 or (depending on your area).

That should do it for coaxial connectivity.

If you are using the composite video and Audio cables to connect to your TV here are the directions for that.

Looking at the back of your TV you will see Three RCA type connectors colored as Yellow, White, and Red. Yellow is Video, White is your Left Audio, and Red is your Right Audio. They should be marked as (Video IN), (R Audio IN), and (L Audio IN). *note these markings may not be exactly like what is written, however the indicators should be close to what you are seeing.

Now look at your VCR, you may see a lot of RCA Connectors (up to 6 of these connectors) don't worry, you are only looking for the ones that say (Video OUT) (R Audio OUT), and (L Audio OUT).

Once you find the connectors on both pieces of equipment, take the Yellow, Red, and White tipped cables and plug the in their respective jacks Yellow tipped cable connects VCR (Video OUT) to TV(Video IN). Red tipped cable connects VCR (R Audio OUT) to TV (R Audio IN), and finally White tipped cable connects VCR (L Audio OUT) to TV (L Audio IN),

Once the cables are connected you will be able to use the composite selection on your remote to view the images from your VCR, the VCR in this case will be acting as the tuner for your TV with out you having to set the TV to channel 3 or 4, you will just have to use the AUX or whatever setting on you remote that allows the composite video to display.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Red screen

Sorry to say, you need a new TV. The picture tube is bad, and allowing high voltage to feed back into the set where it shouldn't go. It would cost more to replace the picture tube (and probably the circuit board as well, as that usually gets damaged too) than a new TV.

Adjust Convergence on Zenith B27A11Z

You don't adjust convergence through a service mode on one of these sets. With a conventional CRT, convergence is done by physically adjusting the convergence rings on the neck of the tube, and the position of the deflection yoke near the bell. You would also need a crosshatch generator to provide the required test pattern for adjustment.

The coax cable is boa=ken

I'm in Canada and it ranges from about $80 to $150. Most are just a simple solder joint. Be careful if you get it fixed not to over torque it. Finger tight on the back of the set.
Instead of fixing it I alot of time recommend using a Digital Cable Box (or satelite tuner) and hooking it up using component. It will be about the same price and you get a little value for you money.

T.v. connector from cable

Hello,

Usually, the whole tuner has to be replaced if there is a missing/stripped coax connection. The connector is "pressed" into place on the tuner section at the factory, and it is nearly impossible to replace one and have it stay on. A lot of people try to solder them on (which works for a while), but the high heat that is needed to solder such a large connector to a large surface area is usually a bit too much, endangering the inductors inside.

The solution I suggest is to use one of the "snap-on" plugs. The are thread-less quick-connect plugs that are available at radio shacks, wal-marts, etc. They are very inexpensive, and will save you a lot of grief.

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103581

If it is too loose when you put it on, then just gently compress the outside "holder" portion of connector to make it a tighter fit.

Hope this helps you, and saves you some money!
