Pioneer pdp 502mx goes to standby no picture after power on
Contact Pioneer at 1-800-421-1404 about getting an in-home power supply replacement. This is a known issue with some plasma displays. Some of you would experience a loud pop and then the power supply fails. You get a red light below the ON button, when you press on, the red light will turn green for a second and then back to red. The plasma display will not turn on after the power supply fails. Call Pioneer at 1-800-421-1404.

PDP-502MXE dead set
hi all,
this problem lis the power supply board. be aware that pioneer pdp-502mxe has got 3 versions and all 3 power supply boards are different so before ordering a new or reconditioned one check the part number on the power board itself.
pioneer is not replacing the boards anymore.
check on ebay.co.uk
i did sold so many parts from this model.
thanks

I have the same problem - look like it`s about to turn on...
It can be sadly expensive for someone to repair it for you. The best thing to really help you out is a Service Manual for the TV. Sometimes it can be found over the internet for less than $20 USD. The Service Manual will have diagrams, schematics, test points, and part numbers for the boards inside the TV. It's the best material for repairing the TV.

Pioneer PDP 502MX
Overload fault in the power supply or a short in one of its load circuits. In
some cases, the low voltage (including B+) will just be reduced to a fraction of
their normal value as a result of an overload on one of the outputs - usually
the main B+.This may be caused by a shorted rectifier in the power supply, flyback, or even
the yoke, but check the the loads first.

Pixels exposing themselves across my screen. PDP-502MX
If these pixels are always in the same place, then I would suspect the plasma display panel. Pioneer is best known for their "Elite" series HDTV which have great picture quality, but for my money the rest can go to the dumpster. If the pixels change to different areas of the screen, then you probably have induced electrical noise in either the wiring or the circuits. Could be faulty engineering or workmanship. In that case, it could be worth getting it looked at. You may need to display a "static" picture, either from freezing a DVD scene, or getting a calibration DVD to see if these pixels are always visible. If the pixels only become visible after being on awhile, it could be the heat build-up causing a solder connection or semiconductor to act up (this model does use 470 watts of electricity when on, and you know that puts out a lot of heat to help breakdown components). Sorry I can't give you a magic cure, I absolutely refuse to work on pioneer TV's so I'm "out of the loop".
