Make sure that the blue-ray player (HDMI Out) is connected to your TV (HDMI In) with an HDMI cable. Set the TV to the input for the player. When not viewing any content, press the Home (Menu) button. Choose the Setup icon on the screen, using the left/right buttons on the remote. Press Enter. Use the Up/Down arrows to highlight Others and press the right arrow button. Use the Up/Down arrows to highlight ARC and press Enter. Use the Up/Down arrows to highlight Yes and press Enter to confirm and save the setting. See page 38 of the manual for the XV-BD717W for the information about the Others sub-menu (including ARC). Make sure that ARC is available on the TV and is enabled if needed.
