Make sure you have the 4/6-pin 12-volt power connector attached to your motherboard from the power supply in addition to the normal power bar.

I once had something similar happen to me. Triple check to see that all connections are secure to the motherboard - a loose 20 pin ATX cable was the culprit in my case.
Hope that helps. Good luck!

Test the PSU. Unplug it from the motherboard and then with nothing connected, short the green wire to any ground (usually a black) using a paperclip and it should come on and stay on if the problem was with the motherboard/computer but if it shuts down, then you know the problem is the PSU itself.

If the PSU stays on under no load, then one possibility is you had too much connected to it and it shut down as a protective feature. The Bios would not beep if the PSU is shutting itself down. Also make sure you have the internal speaker connected. It's possible you just can't hear the beep because there is no speaker connected or it may be connected to the wrong place.

Don't throw away a defective power supply. It is worth a couple bucks as parts for an electronics enthusiast. Keep it out of the landfill.

All new power supplies have a voltage sensing circuit. they need to have a load on them to start.

unplug the orange cable on the motherboard leading to the dvd-rom and replug it into any of the next available slots(2 or 3).
one of them is white in colour and you have to look closely to see the numberings.
