You need the original CD-rom disc that came with the compueter when you bought it.
Then, with that inserted, reboot, enter the BIOS, set boot sequence to CD-Rom, restart again and follow the instructions on screen.

it is not recommended to use Win98 since Microsoft have stopped supporting it long time ago.
if you need to reinstall- why won't you upgrade to Win 7?
just note that even if you re-install win98, most likely all the updates that it used to download from the Microsoft site might no longer be available and you might find yourself with many issues.
also- many accessories no longer have supported drivers.

the bottom line is you should not use Win98 anymore.

Enter the product key which you have got when you have purchased the windows xp Upgrade cd the product key would be at the back of the CD cover and if you have lost the product key or if the product key is misplaced please call the microsoft toll free number and they would be generating the new product key based on the part number on the back of the installation CD.

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:))julyallan01_30.jpg

You could download the anti virus from :-

Go for FREE option. It's the best, secure and great. If that wouldn't solve the issue, revert and i could tell you places to get anti virus without any fee. Those are great and secure, even recommended by Microsoft.

Do not go with any other anti virus.

Regarding connection, you could revert with any problem your are facing and i would be able to follow up from there.

Let me know,so that we could proceed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

The file is still available fron the site mentioned ie. "setup.exe", size 41.9MB. If you are using IE to download, does "Informatiom Bar" pop-up? Then you click "download file". If not you should update your IE to version 6.

Hope it helps.
