Optoma RD50 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television Questions & Answers
Sony vaio vgn fw21l,loose hinge
My hinge broke on my Sony VAIO and the solution I found was to purchase the Service Manual for the laptop then take the laptop apart and find out which part number the hinge was. Then purchase the hinge directly from USA, which took 1 week to come through and mended the laptop myself.
Sony are doing this to everyone who has problems with the hinges of the laptops as they state the guarantee covers everything EXCEPT the hinges. If you can get proof from a pc repair shop that the hinges are a design flaw then Sony will repair it free of charge, but they will still request a Diagnostic fee which will be refunded if the problem you described turns out to be true.
Tv doesnt turn on
Problem with the Optoma DLP 50 in. Rear Projection HDTV-Ready. Television screen remains dark but I get sound.
I replaced the bulb in this tv a year and half
Yes, bulb life varies from bulb to bulb and how many times it is turned on and off. Do you get any flashing codes? In your manual you should find something on a bulb life indicator, some flash on the front of the set others are in the menu, look and see what it says there. If your getting any flashing codes on your indicator light let me know what they are as well
The remote receiver stopped working. how do I
The tv sensor never get damage. It all way the remote, because remotes devices are heavy depend on it CPU chip. All way the CPU chip on the remote is dying and shorted,it alway lost some functions or die completely.Try website like Rmotes.com to buy an original or very close to it remote.
Optoma RD50 TV which shuts down on #1 fan failure
This could be a variant of, or a newer (or older) version of the "DMD fan failure" message.
Symptoms I had are, I stop hearing a fan when the message is displayed.
Then the temp LED keeps flashing RED until I either try to turn the TV on again,
Or turn MAIN power off/on again. BUT it repeats when I try to turn the TV on.
The picture appears normal until this happens ( about 15 sec.)
The solution is to FORCE a normal shutdown by hitting the TV off button
before the message appears.
You should see the power LED flashing RED/GREEN (cool down) and then RED (standby).
My Optoma HDTV Model RD50
Call Optoma technical support listed on the optomatv website. They will ask for the set serial number. Based on the serial number, they will tell you which replacement lamp is the correct model for your TV. (I found this out after ordering the wrong replacement lamp based simply on the model number of my TV and finding that it did not fit.)
Lamp light on picture off
You might try unplugging the set for maybe 20 mins. to see if that might help in resetting the internals. Good luck!
Optoma RD-50 DLP has dark vertical shadow on right side of screen
turning off the main can be very harmful to rear projectors if you dont wait for the cooling off period, for instance when you turn off the tv from the remote, the fans inside are still on in order to dissipate the heat given out by the lamp. as a result some of the lens inside the engine may have burns-in caused by excess of heat.thus leading to shadows on the screen.
hope this helps

Optoma RD50 Picture Flashing ghost images
Hello! Just a little additional info if you will on what might to expect. This is according to the repairman where my tv is still in the shop after almost 2 wks because of the need for parts: other than the lamp the only place to get other parts (ballast and color wheel) is from Optoma and if yu need the color wheel you will have to purchase the entire assembly ($999.99) because they do not sell it separately. If anyone knows differently please let me know for I am between a rock (not really) and a hard place.
I turn on the tv but I get no picture (black screen).
Sounds like a problem with the color wheel. Unfortunately the color wheel is located inside the light engine. According to everything I have read, the only thing you can do is replace the light engine. You are better off replacing the TV. The light engines can run form $750 to $1400. Which is ridiculous!
Blue screen
It sounds like your kid switched to a different input. I am not sure what you have hooked up where but on your remote at the top there are two buttons - one is labeled HD.S and other is SD.S - I do not have my remote handy but am going from memory. The HD.S button switches to the hi-def inputs and the sd.s switches to the standard definition inputs. Try pressing these and switch around until you see a signal again. You will need to let the input "stabilize" and the picture appear so when you switch inputs give it 10 seconds or so before moving on.
Ghost images!
I had the same problem, reset the lamp hours by pressing 'menu, 619 , menu" and browsing until I found the setting, but then I also saw an option to test the lamp. The TV shut off when I tried this and 2 red lights indicating a new lamp is needed came on instead. It's probably the ballast and not the lamp, but I don't know that I want to put any more money into this set. I have only had it 2 years.
