How to repair a broken door handle on a 1997 Buick Park Avenue.

You can find videos about removing the door panel and the exterior door handle on YouTube, so I will not cover those in this post. Other posts about this repair involve things like drilling a hole and inserting a bolt into the broken plastic handle, but if the breakage is in the area where these photos show, those fixes can fail in time. This fix reinforces and improves the faulty design of the part; in other words, auto makers (including BMW!) use plastics where metal, such as light-weight aluminum, should have been used. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Remove the interior door panel. 2. Peel back the plastic covering from the door to access the door's interior cavity. 3. Remove the 2 10mm bolts on either side of the handle securing the door handle to the body. I recommend a ratchet wrench for the easier-to-reach nut and a socket for the other. 4. From the outside, pull the door handle out enough to reach the lock and opener rods from the plastic connectors on the handle so you can remove the handle from the door. 5. Remove the metal door opener arm from the handle. One bolt holds it in place. 6. Fashion a "splint" from a 1" X 1" piece of aluminum. It should be thin enough (about 2 or 3 millimeters thick) to wrap around the broken handle arm as shown in the attached photos. Be CAREFUL not to damage the other plastic handle components. In my photos, it appears a previous owner tried to repair the breakage with a thin bolt. You can see the dried, cloudy-colored glue beneath my aluminum splint. Be sure your splint is wrapped tightly around the broken arm so that the arm cannot come apart again. Good pliers are essential here to bend the aluminum splint as shown. 7. Once completed, reattach the metal opener arm to the handle and ensure the spring end rests in the notch of the arm. 8. Reattach the handle to the door body, ensuring the rods are back in their proper plastic "hooks". You cannot attach them incorrectly, as they only fit one way. Removing and reattaching the screws inside the door cavity can be tricky. The door frame edges are sharp. Be patient and careful not to cut yourself. It will probably take a good five minutes or more to get the screws back in place and tightened.

I have a 2010 Buick LaCrosse with push button start. My installer tried 3 different models of remote starters and none will work. Any advice out there for me?

You need to bypass the VATS (vehicle anti theft system) to get a remote starter to work. If your installer doesn't know that, get another installer.

What causes car to pull side to side

I am unsure if you mean pulling to one side only, or wandering from side to side. The first may be caused by - road camber - one side tire being underinflated - dragging brake on one side - worn shock absorbers front end - wheel alignment out of adjustment -uneven tyre wear from one of the above The second is more serious, and a sign of possible dangerous failure to come. Get it looked at immediately - worn or loose wheel hub bearings - slack or missing wheel nuts - worn or damaged suspension ball joint - worn or damaged inner steering ball joint or tie rod end - loose front suspension bolts

I have a 98 buick century and i have lost my keys

Realizing that your problem is long ago solved because of the date you asked about it, I will say that the best bet is to call areputable locksmith. They can make you a new chip key even if you don't have a key to copy from. That will still be cheaper than buying a new switch. The generic non chip key switches cost just as much as the oem style ones.

My 1997 buick lesabre security

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
You may just have a system failure. As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive battery connector and let it sit for at least 5mins. or more before reconnecting it. This will reset the system and can get it back to it's normal operation.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

My daughter is driving our

Magnet that controls the timing belt??? Don't know what that is, but I do know that GM's of the late 90's and early 00's have a problem with security systems that involves the security module not recognizing the resistance in the ignition lock assembly over the years with lots of usage. Basically it gets to the point where when you insert the correct key, it thinks you are stealing your own car. This module is located under the dash, near the glovebox and ykou need to cut a wire and insert in the cut line a 2200 ohm resistor (about 20 cents at Radio Shack). The module will then get the proper signal, and your starting problems will be over. Here is a good link on how to do this, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the most difficult, this is a 2 or 3 repair:

Car start doe snot move

The rpm reving this high could be due to something that got loose in the air induction system, a fault in the ECM(engine control module) or a fault in the ETM( electronic throttle module). It's best to have the modules scanned for fault codes and if none are found both of the above modules probably need a software upgrade to cure the problem.

CANT KEEP ABS &TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS OFF

When the light is illuminated, the traction control has detected a fault and shut itself off to prevent further damage.

You wont hurt it by driving it, but you should get it to the dealer as soon as you can.

Quite often a problem with the ABS (anti lock brake system) causes the traction control to shut down. When one of the wheel speed sensors fail, the computer can no longer make adjustments to each wheel properly and will shut the system down. The ABS system and the traction control system share the same control systems, so a fault in one causes a fault in the other.

In the winter, snow and ice often build up on the wires that connect to the ABS sensors and pull them out of the sensor.

Short Answer: It is probably a problem with one of the 4 wheel speed sensors.

2001 Cadillac Deville Northstar Engine thermostat location

4.6 Northstar V8. It is located on the rear of engine (driver side) in front. It is in the the water pump housing cover. Remove air box and intake tube and bottom radiator hose. 2 bolts(believe 10mm) on thermostat housing. These systems are a little finicky about air pockets....so fill slowly and let run at idle until operating temp and let cool and check level.....fill as needed and repeat if needed.

Peugeot expert central locking not working

A faulty central locking system might be due to several reasons, such as a blown fuse, faulty solenoid, or electrical wiring issues. Also, it's good to remember the fault might not be with the central car locking system but the key fob instead; over time, fobs require battery changes.
