There is a small hole just above the door on most CD changers. Unwind a small paper clip and GENTLY push it into the hole. This should release the door, and let you look inside. Don't force it because you could damage it more than it is already.

Remove the short that is causing the protection to engage, then power cycle, assuming it's a short circuit protection. If it's going in to thermal protection, then shut the receiver off and let it cool. If all speaker wires are disconnected and the unit is cool to the touch but still appears to be in protection mode, likely one of the output transistors has failed an will need to be diagnosed and replaced. Don't neglect to check the ESR of the electrolytic capacitors if you find a failed device internally.

Hello Michael, for what you comment, you have connected the X-Box to the Yamaha through a Digital-A converter
First try another sound source, example FM, if you also chop the right channel, the problem is in the audio output of the Yamaha
If FM is heard properly, then try replacing the RCA RCA cable between the Digital-A converter, if it still continues, change the input on the Yamaha and if it still follows the fault, replace the D-A converter
I hope you can solve your concern
Greetings Franco Dosil

Espero puedas resolver tu inquietud

Most audio units have a small rechargeable battery to maintain memory inputted items like favourite channels.

This is your Service Manual. Page 117 mentions the battery cover and AAA battery.

Hi Tyrone, I'm looking at the Yamaha HTR 3063 manual and it does not have the Tape-Monitor function, which would allow you to have the connections for an equalizer
This happens because of the variety of types of audio signals and they can not be processed for the insertion of an equalizer
Eventually, you could equalize a single signal, which you would connect to the EQ input and the EQ output, connect it to any of the RCA L-R audio inputs
Greetings Franco Dosil

It's in protection mode. Disconnect all speakers and hold the Tone and Straight buttons while hitting the power button. Hold all buttons down for 3 to 5 seconds. This will turn off protection mode. Now power down then back on. If you haven't damaged anything it should work fine. Make sure all speaker connections are good. Always power down the unit before making any speaker or other connections.

Hello Kevan, for what you say, I do not think your Yamaha is in Sleep mode
Try using another outlet to power the equipment, and see if the fault continues
Try disconnecting the speakers and see if the fault continues, if you continue, you would surely have a power supply problem
If it does not go on, see the baffles connected one by one until it fails again
Check that the connecting cables of the speakers, do not have loose copper wires, that can generate a short circuit in the output
I suggest you look for a specialized technical service
I hope you can solve the fault
Greetings Franco Dosil

Hello Gerardo, check the impedance of your speakers are 8 Ohms or more, if they are less than 8 Ohms, you can produce the failure you say
It also checks the real power that each speaker can handle and that is according to the manufacturer's specifications
Check the connections of the speaker cables, which do not have copper hairs that are joining between the positive and the negative
Test, disconnect all the speakers and go connecting one to one and try in high volume, then disconnect that and connect another and tests, so with all
This test is to know if you have any speaker with problems
If you can not solve, look for a specialized technical service
Greetings Franco Dosil

The internal microcomputer has frozen, due to an external electric
shock (such as lightning or excessive static electricity) or to a drop
in the power supply voltage.
Hold down z (power) on the front panel for more than 10 seconds to initialize
and reboot the unit. (If the problem persists, disconnect the power cable from the AC wall outlet and plug it again.)

Do the lights come on? The click is the relay throwing the unit into prtection mode. Check to make sure the speaker wires are secure in back and not touching each other...
