The power switching inverter board inside your DVD player is faulty. There are four voltages out from it, which contains 5VDC, 12VDC, 9VDC and one unregualted 13VDC. The 5VDC mentioned above is now correct, and it means that the power supply board is functioning well. But the rest I mentioned voltages, except 13VDC unregulated, are controlled voltages, ie, they are controllded by the main system contro section of your DVD player. After switching it ON, the 13VDC unregulated will energise first, out of which 5VDC is derived to supply to main system control IC. This function is correct now. The later switching must be determined by the system control.
If system control should switch on the rest of the votages from the power supply, it should get a clean and non-defective enviorment in the main board. If it detects any faut, such as a short or anything, it won't switch the secondary voltages ON, and further functions will be haulted. That is happening actually now with your DVD.
To detect the fault in the main board of your DVD is actually a very skilled work, and need proper equipments to follow up; and must have a very sound knoledge in digital electronics, and some experience I should say. If you have both, inform me, I'll assist you.

Steps to change Region code:
1. open setup menu (with setup key)
2. select menu point 'General' (dt. 'Allgemein')
3. select sup-menu point 'Setup-Menu Mode' (dt.Setup-Menü-Modus)
4. at 'Setup-Menu Mode' select 'basic' (dt. Einsteiger)
5. confirm 'Basic' sellection with 'Enter' key
6. now push 'Display' key at your remote control, the present regent code will be displaid
7. to change the region code push 'Condition Memory' key (COND.M) at your remote control, afterwards a number key representing the region code you want to select
8. after a successful change, the disply of ther regional code will disappear
9. if pressing the 'Disply' key again the changed regional code will be shown.

Remark: Macrovision copyguard in gerneral will be switched off after that modification

Make sure your on internal speakers, it can be found in menu sound options

This is either a weak solder connection that gets warm and looses its connection or it is a capacitor that is failing. Both require some knowledge of electronics to find and repair.
