Internet pppoe

Check with your ISP to ensure you have the correct PPPoE details. If your router has a built-in "ping" feature, try to ping a website and see if that works.Check on your computer to see what IP address it has, and if it's been "assigned by DHCP" or not - if it has, then it should communicate with your router. If not, then there's an issue with your PC and router communicating together.Let me know how you get on, and I'll help further.

How to reset password

There should be a small reset punch in the back of the router. Plug the router in then press the reset punch with a pen or anything narrow. Hold for 15 seconds. This will reset the router to the default factory settings and the default password. (You will have to setup all your security measures and settings after this)

How do you change the MTU settings on TEW-651BR

You do _NOT_ want to change this setting:
* choosing a smaller value will "truncate" some data-packets, thus losing information;
* choosing a larger value may increase your "lag" when playing online computer-games.

Does it need a modem

It doesn't need a separate modem; it replaces a modem in your home network. If it's properly connected to the phone line, and you have an internet service provider (ISP) supplying you with a broadband connection, and the PC is connected to the router, then it should all work fine.

If it isn't all working fine, the most likely problem is either that the wires aren't connected in the right places, or that the PC's internet connection isn't set up properly (e.g. if you changed from dial-up with a modem to broadband with a router).

If you have recently changed from dialup to Broadband, and you're running Windows, use the Network Connections wizard to set up the internet connection. In Windows XP you can do it this way:
1) click on Start
2) move the mouse to Settings
3) click on Control Panel
4) double click on Network Connections
5) click on File
6) click on New Connection Wizard
7) follow the instructions.

Your ISP should have sent you a CD-ROM to help you to connect, so insert the CD when prompted by the New Connection Wizard.

Sometimes you can just insert the CD into the computer and you'll be prompted to do everything necessary to connect to the internet. BT, for example, do it this way.

Good luck!

1. This error is related to the dialup modem
you will need to disable the dialup modem.
When setting up your router for the lan in the browser you will need to select "internet connect that is always on"
DNS should be on "automatically assign.
yes you can connect a switch to the router and the router will assign each port an IP address automatically.
If you are using the router wirelessly you will need to assign each device that is wireless via the MAC (Media Access Contro) number.
Check you router manual for details on how to set each device in the router by MAC address.
Basic instruction for multiple units set up in the router
Basic setup for multiple computer to go online:
1. power router off
2.connect all computers you want to connect.
3. start computers one at a time completely
4. check router for status light per computer to see if device is seen by router.
5. open web page to see if each computer is online.
7. Do ipconfig / release/renew if not connected.
