Laptop suddenly black out
Computer does not boot up
The problem maybe the RAM, it could be faulty or just needs
reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then
remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and
get them to test the RAM for you.
Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car,
sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults
on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to
deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them
to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection
of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on
your computer.
Power shutoff can not power it on
Overheating
When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal
overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the
problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged
with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure
the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air
to do this.
How to reset or restore
Press F8 during boot and choose safe mode. Start > Search type System Restore. Now choose a date prior to problem. You may have to try a few dates.
Why do I get white or black, or striped screen
Possibly overheating. can you hear a fan speed - up while you use it, just before it freezes? Clean vents with compressed air and a vacuum cleaner. Always use laptops on a shiny, flat surface and not your lap or sofa, carpet etc. as the vents can become blocked and cause overheating.
Hope this helps.
