Many people have a Lens Error. Usually a tiny piece of dust or sand gets caught in the lens mechanism. PLEASE search for Lens Error here you will find MANY step by step procedures.

Why do I get blurry pictures on screen even when I'm focusing.
Go to MENU. Then TOOLS. Make sure Motion Detection is in AUTO.
If that is on AUTO then Put the camera on a hard surface (like tripod) and focus and see if image is still blurry. Lastly, it is difficult to focus in some conditions. Move the focus point, you can click on the screen to change it. Blur can be caused by: long exposures, camera motion during photograph, bad conditions unable to focus.
The focus routine in this camera gets confused often. It can be frustration. It will only be in focus when it is GREEN before you shoot and the camera is not shaking. At night it can take great night shots with a TRIPOD and Exposure set to -1 to -2.
Why battery exhausted can not charge
This is my standard response to your type of question. It covers all the possibilities:
First, I would check your batteries. Start by removing them and making sure that the battery contacts in the camera and on the batteries are clean. If they are dirty. A new pencil eraser can be rubbed against the contacts to remove any oils or residue. Next, I would make sure your batteries are charged. A quick way is to check is to take them out and put them in another device that takes two AA batteries and see if it works. If the batteries are bad, put two new alkaline (non-rechargeable) batteries in your camera to see if it powers up. If it does and you wish to use those batteries, be sure to go into your menu and set the camera to use alkaline batteries because there voltage output is slightly different from rechargeable batteries. Remember that you cannot recharge those batteries and trying to do so can damage your charger and cause the batteries to explode. If the camera will not power up with new batteries, the camera will need to be sent in to Nikon USA for repair (see the Nikon website for information). If the camera powers up with the substitute batteries, either your rechargeable batteries have gone bad or you camera's battery charger is defective. For problems with the internal charger, it is probably more cost effective to buy an external battery charger then to send the camera in for repair unless your camera is still under warranty. External battery chargers are available for under $20. There is one other possible cause of battery failure. If the camera's internal circuitry has an electrical problem, especially a short circuit, the camera will draw excessive current from the batteries and run them down. If that is the case, you would obviously need to send your camera in for repair.
While deleting photos camera shut dow
May I suggest the battery was very low. The Nikon delete routine shows a bright display after the file is deleted, this may take a bit of power. May I suggest you work on your files on your computer? That is, that the SD card out and work on the files on the computer. Now I suggest charging the camera and taking out the SD Card and then turning it on. If it works try it again with the SD card in.

Set ISO Setting to FIXED RANGE and set the range to 80-400. The camera produces noise at HIGH ISO setting.
NIGHT SHOTS
Get a small Tripod and you can take wonderful night time shots of city-scapes. Use a tripod and set the camera White Balance to Incandes. Make sure the FLASH is Off Set the Exposure Comp. to -2. Set the self timer and then frame and press the shutter and back away. Some exposures can be 1 second long so a tripod is not optional. Small plastic Joby ones work. If you are holding the camera during the shot it will move with you. A self timer is used to take the photo after you are not touching it.
When you use the flash set the White Balance to Flash (Unless you are outside on a sunny day. then use daylight)
I do NOT recommend using Auto Flash. Set the flash to OFF or turn it to SINGLE BOLT for fill.
When you want to photograph people outside in the sun set the White Balance to Daylight. On sunny days use the Fill Flash (Single Bolt) to fill faces better. Yes good photographers use flash in the direct sun. When cloudy are in shade turn flash off. If the subject has a bright background get close to them and have the flash on.
This camera makes red eye. In most cases when you are taking a photo of people in low light, when the flash supplies most of the light, you will get horrible red eye. You have to edit these later to remove the red eye.
I have taken several pictures with my new camera -
Make sure you have no pictures on the internal memory of the camera. If you do, format the internal memory with no card in the camera. Then, download any pics you can save from the card to your computer. Then, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions to erase and optimize the card for the camera.
How do i shut off the recoreding
This is an odd question. I think you mean, how do I stop recording a video, so I can take pictures. After you switched on the camera, you press the shooting mode button (camera logo). then on the left of the display you see four logos. Your camera is on the forth logo from the top (FilmCamera logo)
Tap on the display, on the top (camera) logo, to enter the picture taking mode.
It is all in the manual on page 26.
When you get more experienced, the same screen can guide you on to more complex modes, so you also can improve pictures when you meet extreme situations. In the auto mode 99 percent of the shots will be good.
