I've had a few battles with Dishnetwork myself anfd the only thing you can do, if you want to keep the service is, 1 Pay a 15.00 fee for them to come out or, 2 Ge them o the phone and they will take you through a diagnostics with you which should end up with them sending you a new receiver in abox that you will put your old receiver in adn return it to them. I paid the 15.00 fee because I refused to go throuh the diagnostics over the phone. I've had mine replaced at least three times. Other than having to deal with them over the phone, I like the service and I had even bigger problems with Directv. If you already have changed your frequencies and that doesn't work, the only other thing you can try is pulling the piece out at the bottom of remote under where it says "dish Networks" and turn it over. The piece does come out. I'm pretty sure they will not let you out of your contract so you will end up with additional fees if you drop the service.

If you mean Closed Captioning it can be disabled by hitting MENU, Preferences, Closed Caption. Make sure your TV doesn't have Closed Caption enabled by using your TV remote.

The DEMO mode is a setting in your TV and not your DISH receiver. For most TVs, use your TV remote, hit menu, and dig around until you see an option to reset all settings, or something phrased the same way. The TV should turn off then on, then ask you to set up your TV again. If you need more info, check your TV's owners manual.

Dish first suggestion is to unplug for 30 seconds and allow the unit to reboot itself.

Beth Stakes,

You can disable the inactivity standby option in the menu. Go to Main Menu > Preferences > Updates. You can adjust the time to extend it or disable it all together!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi there! My name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media Department with DISH. It is my pleasure to assist you. All of ur receivers are set to update nightly between 1am to 3am. The nightly updates allow the receivers to update software and the programming guide. if you need to force a download on the guide simply unplug the receiver from the wall outlet for 10 seconds and plug it back in, allow it to power back on by itself, acquire signal, and download the guide. If you have any questions or need assistance with your DISH service, feel free to reach me at: Kimberly.escobar@dish.com

r_pettit,

I can definitely assist you with this. What button do you press when you turn off the TV? Have you tried pressing 'SAT' then the big red 'Power' button on the remote?

I have listed the steps below to assist with programming the remote to your TV. If you have any other questions, let me know at kimberly.escobar@dish.com.

You can lookup codes if needed here: http://www.mydish.com/support/apps/remot...

1.) Press and hold the clear TV button until all mode lights light up.
2.) Release and TV light will be blinking.
3.) Enter code and press #. The TV button should flash 3 times.
4.) Try functions (Volume, Power, etc..) and see if it is working.
5.) If no function, repeat steps 1-4 with another code.

Partial solution: I have had rabbit ears sitting on my roof, somewhat tied in with my dish, for close to two years. It's just a matter of running a coax out.
