Kenmore 24 in. 17482 / 17484 / 17489 Built-in Dishwasher - Page 5 Questions & Answers
My Kenmore dishwasher is making a combination grinding/humming noise during the draining cycle
see this causes and use the common sense. God bless you
If your dishwasher seems noisy, check these:
Water-inlet valve
Motor
Heater fan
Pump
Water-inlet valve
An
aging water-inlet valve can sometimes fail slowly, rather than all at
once. It can shudder on and off rapidly, causing the incoming water
lines to shake, rumble, and rattle--sometimes violently. If yours is
doing this, replace the inlet valve.
Motor
If it's the motor that's noisy, either of these may be the "culprit:"
As
motor bearings wear out, they can become quite loud when the motor
runs. They wear out quickly if they frequently get wet, because the
water washes away the motor bearing grease. Bearings can get wet if the
spin seal is defective. Then there will also be water leaking onto the
floor beneath the dishwasher. Replace the seal if it leaks (read about
the main tub seal in the "It leaks" section, later).
If,
from beneath the dishwasher, you can see a round, plastic disc that's
mounted to the top of the motor (a "slinger"), it may have broken free
of the motor shaft. If so, it could be rattling around the shaft while
the motor is running. If that's the problem, you need to replace the
motor.
Heater fan
If
the heater fan bearings are rusted or worn, they may squeal, or scrape
loudly during the drying cycle. If this is the problem, replace the fan
motor. Alternatively, the fan blade may be loose. If so, you need to
replace it.
Pump
Small
fruit pits, toothpicks, and fragments of glass sometimes get stuck in
the pump. When this happens, open the pump and remove the debris. The
pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the
bottom of the dishwasher.
To
get to the pump, you usually need to remove the lower rack, the spray
arms, and the spray arm support from the inside of your dishwasher. A
dishwasher pump isn't obvious. Look for an impeller--a round, plastic
fan blade-type device that spins around and pushes the water toward the
drain. When you can see the drain impeller, you should be able to see
the clogging debris.
Kenmore 665 no lights on panel water in bottom
This is commen with these. you need to take the door and remove the screws around it. You need to gain access to the controller. on the controller you will see a white peice with 2 balck wires going to it that is your fuse. replace this and that will solve your problem.
How do i remove cover on food chopper? kenmore 665
Hold the lower spray arm hub (plastic bolt spray arm connects to) and turn the lower spray arm counter clockwise to remove it.
Using a torx bit, remove the 4 screws and the top cover. Remove the screws for the lower cover and the chopper cover. Insert a flat screwdriver it into the clip of the chopper cover to pull it up easier.
Unless there are alot of "foreign objects" in that area, be prepared to replace the chopper, the motor and/or sump assembly.
Kenmore elite dishwasher wont work
Remove the console panel with T15. then remove the cover from the main control board. top right of center of the main control you will see a removable fuse, either a black disc with a black and a black/w white strip connected. remove one wire from the thermal fuse and check for continuity. if it is open replace it. if it is not open call for service.
Gene, I have a Kenmore Elite model # 665
Hey Steve,Sorry it took me so long to answer i was offline and my add is not supposed to displayed when i am off line so sorry about that. Now then on that dishwasher with the hum and no water circulation it sounds as if the main wash motor is jammed up for some reason it could be that the motor itself is defective or as simple as something such a piece of debris such as broken glass or almost anything caught in the motor causing it to not turn on,by disassembling the wash motor you can see if something is caught in,if nothing is caught in its a (sorry to say) the motor itself thats bad and would need to replaced. The reason the water drains even though it will not circulate is because of the separate drain pump that is working Please reply back after disassembling the pump to check for debris if ya need further assistance. Thanks for using Fixya.Com,GENE
Kenmore Model 665.15979992 (Elite) dishwasher:
lock
The blinking "clean light" is a common problem with some of the Kenmore and Whirlpool models dishwashers.
The problem is usually attributed to water supply temperatures being too low when filling.
Apparently, there are some issues with the temperature sensing circuits in some dishwashers that causes an error code to be generated if a certain water temperature is not achieved in a specified time interval (this time may differ between models).
There is a reset sequence that you can try to clear the fault.
Push the NORMAL WASH then HEATED DRY buttons in that sequence two to three times.
The unit will enter diagnostics mode, but can be stopped by pressing the CANCEL button.
This will clear any existing faults and should return the dishwasher to normal operation.
To keep the fault from returning, it is recommended that you run your hot water faucet in the kitchen until it runs hot BEFORE you start the dishwasher.
This will heat the water in the supply line for the dishwasher (most dishwashers are fed from the kitchen sink supply line).
The theory is that if you fill the dishwasher with hot water from the start of the wash cycle instead of the cool water that is normally in the lines (especially if you have a hot water tank located far away from the kitchen), this should satisfy the requirements of the temperature sensing circuits.
If the fault reappears, there should be a tech sheet located inside the lower panel under the door that explains what the fault is.
The flashing light will be a series of flashes, followed by a pause.
If you indeed have a component problem, it will depend on the number of flashing lights in the sequence.
Refer to the tech sheet to determine WHAT component is affected and how to troubleshoot.

I have a Kenmore elite
Hi
If clean light is blinking then it may be an
issue with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump, please reset the power to
the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same error.
If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try pressing
this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High Temp - Air
Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi Temp Scrub,
energy saver dry. Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and then you press
the Cancel/Drain button and allow it to completely drain and reset. If this
doesn't work then it's an issue with the wash pump not pumping the water past
the heater efficiently or due to lack of water to heat. Please make sure that
heater is not open circuited and is heating the water efficiently. You'll have
to check the heater using a multimeter; the meter should read between 3000 to
3300 ohms (Use multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then make sure
water pressure is optimum and fill valve is working fine. Hope this helps...
Please post back if you need more information.
