If you contact kenmore you should be able to get a manual. This may sound silly but the drain hose needs to be draining into the sink.
My older built in Kenmore 3380957 Rev.A dishwasher.
If it is doing when it is washing, then it likely to be a problem with the pump, but it might just be 'hunting' because the filters are partially blocked. There is the filter that you can see easily, but there is a fine filter underneath that blocks with fine grey lint.
Water left in the bottom can be caused by that because the drain pump is past the filter and is on a timer.

Kenmore dishwasher model 587 has ERR code and lights flashing.
If you're experiencing an ERR code and flashing lights on your Kenmore dishwasher model 587, it indicates an error or fault in the dishwasher's operation. Unfortunately, without specific details about the error code or which lights are flashing, it's challenging to provide a precise solution. However, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Check the owner's manual: Refer to the dishwasher's manual for a list of error codes and their meanings. It should also provide troubleshooting steps specific to your model.
2. Power cycle the dishwasher: Turn off the dishwasher by unplugging it from the power outlet or shutting off the circuit breaker that supplies power to it. Leave it disconnected for a few minutes to ensure a complete power cycle. Then, plug it back in or switch the circuit breaker back on.
3. Check for obstructions: Inspect the dishwasher's interior, specifically the spray arms, filters, and drain pump, for any obstructions such as food debris or foreign objects. Clean or remove any blockages that you find.
4. Run a diagnostic cycle: Some dishwashers have a diagnostic mode that can help identify the cause of the error. Refer to the manual for instructions on how to initiate the diagnostic cycle.
5. Contact customer support: If the issue persists or you are unable to determine the cause of the error, it's recommended to reach out to Kenmore customer support or a qualified appliance repair technician. They will be able to provide further assistance and help resolve the problem.
Remember, the specific steps and options may vary depending on your dishwasher model. Consulting the owner's manual is always the best course of action when troubleshooting appliance issues.

Dishwasher isn't filling with water
It sounds like your Kenmore dishwasher is having an issue with water not filling up in the tub. There could be a few different reasons why this is happening.
One possibility is that the dishwasher's water inlet valve is malfunctioning. This valve controls the flow of water into the dishwasher and if it's not functioning properly, it could be preventing water from entering the tub. You may need to replace the water inlet valve in order to fix the issue.
Another potential cause could be a clogged or dirty filter screen or spray arm. If these parts are not working correctly, it could be causing the water flow to be disrupted, which could lead to the dishwasher not filling with water. Cleaning or replacing these parts could solve the issue.
It's also possible that there's an issue with the dishwasher's float switch. This switch is responsible for monitoring the water level in the tub and if it's malfunctioning, it could be causing the dishwasher to stop filling up with water. You may need to replace the float switch to fix the issue.
Finally, there could be a problem with the dishwasher's control board or timer. If these parts are malfunctioning, it could be causing the dishwasher to stop filling with water or not complete a cycle. In this case, you may need to replace the control board or timer to fix the issue.
It's recommended to check these potential causes one by one until you identify the root cause of the problem. If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, you may want to consider contacting a professional appliance repair technician to help you diagnose and fix the issue.
