There is a disc stuck
There is a tiny hole in the front of the drive precisely to overcome this problem. Carefully straighten out a paper clip to give you about 1-half inches. Carefully introduce it into the hole and gently push until you feel resistance. This means the paper clip has touched the special release mechanism inside.
Pushing in a little further, you will find a little further resistance and then the drive will start to open a little. Keep pushing until about half an inch of the drive is exposed which will allow you to very carefully open the drive manually. It is perfectly safe to do this and is an accepted method with all 'stand-alone' CD/DVD ROM drives sold for installing in computers. Most CD/DVD ROM Drive manufacturers actually include a special, 3 inch long tool about the same dimension as a paper clip when you but a new drive.
Be careful and don't rush it.
Follow this procedure with the equipment completely switched OFF.
When you switch ON again, the drive will automatically close itself and you will be 'back in business'.
Good Luck

Did you check the outlet that it's plugged into? Sometimes we see defective outlets in surge protectors. Check the end that plugs into the receiver also, unplug it, then reconnect it.

How can i hook the speakers that come with
Don't. Or do so with the understanding that damage may result to the speakers or the new receiver. Theater Systems are not designed to be mixed and matched like true separate audio components.
This unit's amplifiers and speakers are rated at 3-ohms. The speakers may present an unusually low impedance to the new amplifier, which, if it's a 'standard' amp, will probably be spec'd for 6-ohm or higher loads.
Not knowing to what receiver you want to connect them:
IF you want to try it, don't destroy the existing speaker connectors; instead, get some standard speaker wire or lamp cord (the cheapest option) and decide for each speaker wire which of the two conductors you want to be plus and which will be minus. It really doesn't matter which is which as long as you have consistency throughout the listening room. Mark Plus on each end of the designated Plus conductor. (I usually just separate the two conductors up the middle of the insulation and tie a small knot in the Plus). Attach each speaker to its corresponding channel of the new receiver, keeping the plus minus pattern in mind.
Start with VERY LOW VOLUME and listen for any strain or distress in either the speakers or the amp. Don't be surprised if the amp shuts down to protect itself at high volume levels. If you smell smoke, it's too late.

I have my sound plugged
Hi.
The problem is the optical cable.
The optical cable light conductivity is getting interrupted, either because the cable is defective, or because the optical cable has been kinked.
This will cause sound going off erratically.
Try putting the optical cable as straight as possible.
If this does not help, replace the optical cable.
Regards.
