Do you mean playback on the camcorder, or playback via a TV or PC ? If on the camcorder, there may be a menu setting for this - check the manual. If TV or PC, use the volume control on that.Alternatively, there may be a menu setting to permit you to record at a higher volume. Be careful if you choose this, as background noise will also increase in volume.

cassettes have a small tab in the back corners and if the lid will not close then it is possible that the tabs are in tact or have been removed it could be a reason the other thing is the cassette itself the right unit for the machine
