One of the burner switches may have a stuck "element on" arm inside. I found mine by unplugging the switches one by one and restoring power inbetween. Once I restored power and the light went out, I knew I had the problem switch unplugged. Popped it open, freed the stuck arm. Reassembled, twisted the switch a few times to ensure smooth operation and reinstalled the switch. Problem solved.

Tom (Tchange): I also had arc/pop/short of SSB like g_royer. This was preceded over a few days by the Element ON indicator always ON (with all surface select switches OFF). I found the arc marks and burns on the SSB and replaced it. Element ON indicator went OUT, but like you, element no longer heats. I just checked continuity for each of the relays on the Lockout Board. In spite of the error designation on the Wiring Diagram (swapping P3 with P6), I found an OPEN relay for that element. Now to order the Lockout Board, just like g_royer.

Check to see if the oven door lock works but holding the lock button on your control (you may see a picture of a small lock next to a button, hold this button for more than 3 seconds until the control says its locking). If the lock fails then this is your problem, if the lock works then the problem is with the control or EOC. Try leaving the power off toy our stove overnight to reset the EOC. If the problem persists then the EOC needs to be replaced. This part can cost more then $300.

If resetting the power did not fix it, the EOC would need to be replaced to fix this issue. The EOC (also known as the clock) can be a very expensive part ( > $300). Try leaving the power off over night as sometimes this can fix the problem.

Possible element faulty or switch unless you have a multimeter and a good working knowledge of electricity be very careful. Remove the two connections on the element and set the multimeter to diode testing or resistance and test across the element if you get a zero reading the element has blown, if you get a positive reading look at the switch.

call a tech to come out!! we have had the same problem for 3 weeks now on ours and it is less than a year old and apparently we are lucky our house didn't burn down!! the wires inside the range were melted:(
