Why would I be able to send outgoing fax but not
I hope there's no problem with the connection and also your line isn't busy (please dial your own number from another phone number and make sure you can hear the caller tune). There are many reasons with this issue, sometimes even a slight connection faulty can cause this. Unplug the phone line cable and replug it. Don't forget to set the fax is set to "Fax Mode". If possible, try sending a fax from another local number. Sometimes, fax reception has problem with different numbers, means from some numbers it'll receive while from others never receive, the problem is from the network operator.
The last problem is with the fax machine, try reset it to factory default, if this doesn't fix, the machine needs to be serviced.
Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Why is it sometimes I get a line fail when FAXing
Most of the time if your machine is in good working order, it's the other companys line that has the problem. Example: one of my customers that had been faxing to this company for years had same problem. And on calling they had changed lines etc.. They gave him a true fax line and off it went. I have seen this problem more and more from 2005 and current, I-fax is becoming more of the trend and stand alones are starting to get pushed away. Do Not Ever throw it out. Always keep you fax machine. Hard Wire :)

The fax machine is saying remove the drum there is...
Use the corona cleaning wire to clean the dust off. Open the front cover. Remove the drum/toner unit. look on the right side of the drum portion above the toner unit for a plastic tab with a triangle arrow that points to the left. Slide this tab back and forth several times. Move the tab back to the right. Reinstall the drum/toner unit. Close the front cover.
Clean the corona wire in this manner every time you change the toner/drum.

The 4100 we have had for 4 or 5 years has stopped
hello, make sure the papers are placed correctly before you start faxing, and also make sure all connections are in the right places.
Make sure the telephone wire is
plugged into the line jack (not ext jack) and should go straight to the wall, without
splitters or extensions. If you still cannot send a fax, try another
wire or jack.
wish you good luck,
take care.
