New Janome 6600 Erroring out

Hi,
This is the official Janome reference to your E% error message:
Feed sensor error "E 5" appears when the machine is turned backwords slightly while the machine runs over tight spot. The above will happen when - the machine is locked by thread jammed in the machine. - sewing extreamly thick fabric. In case of the MC4900, it will happen when running without threading the thread take up lever. The thread take up lever should be threaded when the threading light lights up.
Hioe this helps

When sewing elastic type material it keeps knoting

you may need to use a certain type of thread for jersey knits and stretch fabrics also your machine should have a setting for stretch stitches to allow for smoother sewing

Bobbin is not filling. It barely turns.

This happened on my Janome 10000...it had to be repaired in a shop.

Janome E1 error

If a warrantee job, it will be no charge.
Motor in Australia is $149-00.....plus installation charge.
You could phone or email Janome HQ or another dealer in your country and ask for an explaination of the E1 error to satisfy yourself of what is the likely cause, and a quote to fix it.

The bobbin jumps.

Sounds like the take-up lever is not threaded. Make sure that the take-up lever is in its highest position and re-thread the machine.

The bobbin case may have some nicks or burrs which need to be carefully smoothed off. Take the needle plate off and inspect the bobbin case for any sharp burrs which could snag the thread.

The wheel on the janome 6500 is very tight.

Please go to the Yahoo Group Janome 6500/6600 and join. You can ask this there or look through the older posts. They are just wonderful folks.

My needles stuck

If you can get it out of the plate, you will still have to remove the crater it made to eliminate snags. If you have the tools to do that, go for it, otherwise I'd take it to a shop.

Janome sewing machine bobbin winder

I had that problem the first time I tried to wind a bobbin. What a mess. The next time I let the thread run through my finger and thumb before reaching the bobbin. I had to do the same on a previous Kenmore.

I've also found that the heavier Bernina bobbins don't 'jump' around.

When feed dogs down top

Have you checked to see if the Thread has slipped out of the Tension guides? Here are my quick steps to getting back to happy sewing:
  1. Remove bobbin and blow out the dust from in and around the bobbin case, when replacing bobbin... make sure it the thread is traveling the right direction in the bobbin case. (this one never hurts to try, a backwards bobbin causes lots of probelms)
  2. Re-thread the machine (the thread in my Janome sometimes comes out of the thread uptake lever causing the problem you described, could mean your threading path might need to be cleaned)
  3. New needle (the tiniest bent needle can cause hair pulling issues.)

I can't get the hoop under the foot and I am using the correct foot.

Use the "P" Foot, clear plastic, it does not go all the way to the needleplate.
You should be able to manouver the Hoop under the foot without too much trouble if you come at it like scooping under the foot with the edge of the hoop. Also try manually raising the presser foot the extra little bit the lever will give you when you raise it..........if you raise and let go at the top position, it will still drop a couple of mm, so use that extra slack.
Of course it is a little clumsy, but you could also attach the P foot after the hoop is in place, but it really ought not be that difficult. There is a very remote chance that the Needle Bar Height has dropped, but it is not in the scope of this forum to describe that process without you having a fairly thorough understanding of the mechanics of the machine as other elements of timing and relative adjustments come into play.
It is an expensive investment that you have made and deserves good care by trained people if it does come to such adjustments.
As to needle threading, this model has a needle threader mechanism that ought to obviate the difficulty of manual threading, if it needs adjustment, then it is not too dificult to describe, you can contact me through the Contact Us page of www.bargainbox.com.au
