If you have already removed the paper from the printer, and there is no longer any jammed paper in the machinery, try turning the printer off for 10-15 seconds and then turning it back on.

Do a L3 Uninstall first for the previous software. But Before Doing so, download the updated software first.
To Download:

1 Go to hp.com 2 Click on Support and Drives 3 Enter your product name or number, in this case just type in Officejet 8500 All-In-One 4 Hit go 5 Choose your operating system 6 Hit Next 7 Click on the link that says Driver - Product Installation Software 8 Save it to your desktop
Once the download is finished for the L3 Uinstall:
Insert the CD that came with the Printer in your computer disc tray --
1 Go to My Computer (XP), Computer (Vista and Win7) 2 Right Click on the Driver CD, The one that has the HP Logo 3 Open Util 4 Open CCC 5 Double Click on the icon that says Uninstall_L3
I hope this helped.

then your other color may be low, or the cartridge is faulty or your ink station is not recognizing the ink, this you should refer to the vendor as your printer may be under warranty and it can be replaced with a new printer

while scanning try reducing the DPI of the scans. this will make the image smaller in size but it will effect the picture quality very little. but do keep in mind that the dpi must be atleast 70 for better picturization

Tip

Where to find the manual (pdf) for HP Officejet Pro 8500 multifunction printer

Sometimes , it is convenient to have a soft copy of your user manual. You may also require it as you lost your original printed manual. This tip will guide you to your digital manual and explain how to download it.

Printed manuals are normally available at a cost from the product manufacturer. Please see the link below to contact the manufacturer and find out how to replace your printed manual.

To download a soft copy of your manual , please Click Here to go to the retrevo page for your manual. This is a excellent site that maintains a manual and product database of thousands of products available free to download in PDF format.

Please note that you will need pdf viewer software to be able to view the downloaded manual. I can recommend Adobe reader which is available for free download at the following location :

CLICK HERE to go to Adobe Reader download site.

To download you manual from retrevo , follow the above mentioned link. You will be taken to the product page. The following images are used as an example.

Hi .
It still looks to me as it is blocked some where so I would try.
Ok it got to be the heads blockage
There is fluid cleaner for this but I can never find any in the shops the only ones I seen is when they sell them in Tesco but they come in with the ink refill bottles so I just use worm water by it self on a cloth and dabbing on the heads to clean them, it will not harm the heads but not to much water.

Some heads are on the inks them self but some have them inside the printer so I not know your printer so if the heads are inside you need to get them out you may find that some heads will just clip out put some need to be unscrewed so you got to know how they come out so be careful and not push to hard on them, if the heads are on the ink then it is a easy job to clean them,
It worth a try it worked for me more than ones.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

You need to get more RAM & increase the size of your hard drive space... this is usually why. Not enough Ram or HD space.

Ahhh. A fellow OfficeJet 4652 owner. I own one too. In your print driver, you want to click quality, and then normal.
