Water will not pump into dishwasher but will pump

Hello. there are two devices that control the flow of water into a dishwasher. They are the water-inlet valve and the float switch.

Water-inlet valve The water-inlet valve lets water enter the machine. If this valve is defective, you need to completely replace it. It's usually located behind the lower access panel on the left or right side. It's the device with the main water line (usually copper) from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it. Float switch The float switch is a small electrical switch that's located right below the dishwasher "floor." Above the switch, on the inside of the dishwasher, is a plastic cylinder that floats up as water fills the dishwasher. If this switch is defective, or if the plastic float gets caught or trapped in the raised position, the water can't enter the dishwasher. If the float switch is defective, you need to replace it.

Dishes are cloudy and covered with a film when

Refill your SALT container with 1kg of dishwasher salt.
Salt reduces hardness in water -and increases cleaning efficiency. If you have a little furr build up in your kettle - you need salt in your dishwasher to work properly.

If you do use salt, it may be the salt reservoir is blocked with caked salt.

Soap door is locked shut and will not open, we

Hi

Many dishwashers ( but not all ) use a BI-metal strip that heats up once power is applied to it. The BI-metal strip bends and allows the soap door spring to open up the dispenser. This bi-metal strip is not given full 120 volts power, the timer "shunts" the power through either the heating element ( most common ) or the motor and this gives the bi-metal strip lower than full power to work and open. Most often the bi-metal strip has lost it's ability to bend properly and needs to be replaced. Older GE dishwashers used an mechanical arm driven by the timer to open the dispenser = no electrical bi-metals. Newer ( plastic liner ) Maytag dishwashers and many newer Whirlpool and Frigidaire dishwashers use a wax motor to open the soap dispenser, this wax motor does receive 120 volts to work. The plunger inside the wax motor slowly moves and pushes the plunger and door open. This is a what a wax motor looks like.

Won't empty, does'nt wash well

Most likely your product is fine. However those little gel-packs r the worse on dishwashers they get stuck in the system and clog and ruin dishwashers I always recommend using powder it foams less and breaks down easier in the dishwasher. Also u might have a clogged or kinked drain line. If all is fine there it is possible your motor is locked up in that case make sure the dishwasher is off take off the bottom panel. Then reach under and find the fan blades on the motor turn them a few times to unlock it replace panel. U can also try a small amount of C.L.R to clear up any grime in the system.

Diswasher drainage in an island

Dbootin,

I suggest just putting a dedicated Drain in the island next to the Dishwasher. You can hide it in side the island. Under the house, tee into the Main Sewage drain.  You should not need to vent it as the sinks vent is near enough to keep you from worrying about that.

Installation

The incoming hot water can be hooked up independently. The thing you should consider is the drain line. The drain hose and the pump are (obviously) below the tub of the dishwasher (DW). If you route the drain hose through the floor directly, the water in the tub will siphon out. You'll need to route the drain hose to keep this from happening. The way to do that is to route it in such a way that it forms an almost upside down "J", then down through the island. The upper portion of the "J" should be about the same height as the top of the DW.

Also consider the electrical hook up. The proper way to wire it is through a SPST switch (like a light switch) so you can turn power off in an emergency or a servicer can kill power without having to locate the breaker. Some contractors "hard wire" the DW's in (with or without a SPST switch)... others mount a wall outlet so you can plug and unplug the DW if necessary. Either way is OK, only mentioned it so you'll know how your contractor will be doing it.

Just some things to consider. Good luck with the renovation and I hope you enjoy your new Kitchen.

Dishwasher conitues to fill even if unplugged

If the dishwasher is filling with out the power on, you have a defective inlet water valve. If it's new, have them repair it under your warranty. If not the part number is wd15x10003. Easy fix, on the left side behind the toe panel...Catriver...post back.

I have a GE dishwasher model GLD4908T10BB and the light is on for rinse only but does not turn on and will not let me change the settings?

Try a power disconnect from the mains for 5 minutes and then plug it back in. It that doesn't fix it, the problem will be the main control board. Many parts are obsolete. https://www.google.com/search?q=GLD4908T10BB ..

Ge dishwasher lower rack doesn't get clean

I have spent all my career in the catering and food industry with dishwashers of all shapes and sizes. The usual reason for this can be two fold.First make sure that the bottom spray arm spins freely. For various reasons they can stick and that means the spray only hits one place. If you spin it, it should spin at least 2 revolutions. Even if it does....Remove the bottom spray arm. The thing that makes it spin is the angled jets in either end. They will often block with debris, and the worst is lemon pips and cocktail sticks, even fluff. No one knows how fluff gets in there, but it does. At my last job at a VERY busy airport lounge putting literally hundreds of baskets through a day, the two filters had to be de-fluffed every day. The problem at home is that the fluff solidifies between uses. So look at those end two jets, poke with something and put water in from the jet end rinsing to the big hole in the centre. Put the plug in the sink so you can see what comes out. The turn the arm over and force a good jet of water into the big centre hole and it should show as a good jet at the ends. Then put the arm back and make sure it spins.Your machine has a strange item called a 4 port diverter valve. This part concerns me a bit as it appears that it may be supposed to move or at least has to be in the correct orientation. Some items like this have a rubber flap that really does divert the flow. Once gain, some type of debris can ruin its function. It looks easy enough to remove.504 - Diagram Number FOUR PORT DIVERTER AND PLUG ASSEMBLY WD19X26398https://www.geapplianceparts.com/store/parts/assembly/PDT715SYN3FSAnother trick is to whip the door open mid wash if it doesn't have a safety lock and see what the arm is doing and if it is spraying well.I hope this is more use than our friend Umar Waheed! Why is my GE dishwasher drain solenoid continuously burning up?

There could be a few reasons why your GE dishwasher drain solenoid keeps burning up:
  1. Overloading the dishwasher: Overloading the dishwasher can cause the motor to work harder, which in turn can cause the drain solenoid to burn out.
  2. Improper installation: If the drain solenoid is not installed correctly or there is a wiring issue, this can cause the solenoid to burn out.
  3. Clogs or blockages: If there are clogs or blockages in the dishwasher's drain line or garbage disposal, this can cause the motor to work harder and burn out the drain solenoid.
  4. Electrical issues: If there are electrical issues with the dishwasher, such as a short circuit, this can cause the solenoid to burn out.
To troubleshoot the issue, you may want to start by checking the dishwasher's drain line and garbage disposal for any clogs or blockages. You can also check the dishwasher's installation and wiring to ensure everything is properly connected. If the issue persists, you may need to consult a professional appliance repair technician to diagnose and fix the problem.
