When the laptop is turned
Hello collensdrea,
Welcome to FixYa.com!
Sorry to hear what's happening to your laptop. I would lke to ask you to follow a few steps to check and see if this is a faulty display or not. Please follow the following steps:
1. Turn the laptop off
2. Unplug the AC adapter (if connected) and remove the battery
3. Press & hold the power button for 40 seconds w/o the battery installed or the AC adapter plugged in
4. Let go of the power button, reconnect the AC adapter and put the battery aside for the meantime
5. Turn the laptop on by pressing the power button and the second you turn the laptop on, tap F2 several times to load the laptop's BIOS.
What is a BIOS? This is a special screen that let's you make changes to your laptop's motherboard. Please do not wander around as it may cause the more problems if you are not sure of what you are doing.
The reason why we went here is to see if we can still recreate the same issue i.e. the screen rolls & flickers.
If it still rolls & flickers, I'm afraid you need to contact Acer to have your computer sent to Depot or serviced.

My laptop process is very slow when it is started
There are many things you can do to speed up your laptop:
1. Try going to the control panel add/remove programs (or a variation thereof depending on your operating system) and removing programs that you dont use anymore.
2.If you have more than one hard drive (as in when you click my computer you have a C drive and possibly a D drive move any documents or large files over to the D drive.)
3.To speed up start up try clicking the start button and going to run, typing msconfig, and then clicking the startup tab. Uncheck anything that you know you dont need at startup i.e(microsoft office and things like that )
Here is an article with more steps for things you can do.

My windows explorer stops and restarts please help
It's possible that it's a hardware problem or your computer is infected by a computer virus. Does it restart when you see the windows XP logo or when you are in the desktop? or Does it restart before seeing the windows xp welcome screen? Since this is a laptop it may be hard for you to reseat some of the internal devices inside in your laptop so we could start isolating the issue from the hardware and to the software.
First try to power cycle it, turn off your laptop remove the battery, any external connection like external mouse, external hard drive and monitor and press the power button for 15 seconds after that put the battery in and turn it back on without the external devices plugged in. (if it turned on without a problem that's good-possible that one of the external devices are causing it to keep on restarting, to isolate it you can just put the external devices one-by-one and start the computer, if it start occuring you know who is causing the problem)
If you can disassemble your laptop you can try to remove the hard drive, then turn on your computer, if your computer didn't restart that means that the problem is with you hard drive, possible that the software installed in it is faulty or the hard drive itself (try plugging it back in properly let's see if it'll work, if not, you may need to buy a new hard drive or before buying one, you can try to plug your hard drive to a different computer (acting like an external hard drive) and backup all your important files and reformat that hard drive, after reformatting it you can try to plug it to your laptop again. (if that hard drive is not detected to another computer meaning that it's faulty)
If that didn't resolve the problem, you can try to reseat the memory testing each memory chip and slots, processor.
Hope this help.
My Acer 4620 says no partion when I use the recovery disks?
YOU NEED TO DO PARTITION INTO THE NEW HARDDISK AND ALSO FORMAT INTO NTFS FOR SURE.
YOU ALSO NEED TO INSTALL WINDOWS XP,YOU CUD'VE DONE THE PARTITION AT THE TIME OF INSTALLATION BUT IF HAVEN'T DONE THAT THEN YOU CAN STILL DO IT :aSSUMING THAT YOU HAVE INSTALLED XP
1. Click on the Start button and select the Control Panel option.2. If in Classic control panel mode, double-click on the Administrative Tools icon and then double-click on Computer Management icon.
If your control panel is in the Category view, click on Performance and Maintenance, then click on Administrative Tools, and finally double-click on theComputer Management icon.
3. When the Computer Management screen opens, click on the Disk Management option under the Storage category.
ON THE SCREEN NOW YOU'LL SEE YOUR HARD DISK DRIVE
1. Right click on the space listed as unallocated.
2. At the menu that comes up, click on the New Partition option.
3. You will now be presented with a wizard as to how you would like the partition to be created. At the first screen press Next.
4. At the following screen, determine if you need a primary or extended partition. For more information about these partitions you can read our partition tutorial listed above. Most people will be fine selecting Primary Partition. Select Primary Partition and press Next.
5. At the next screen you will be prompted to type in how much of the unallocated space you would like used for the new partition. In my example, my unallocated space is 26.43 GB, so I can choose to make a partition of that entire amount of only use half and save the rest for another partition. Regardless, of what you decide, you need to enter a size in the Partition size in MB: field, or stick with the default size, and press the Next button.
6. At the next screen select the drive letter you would like assigned to it, or use the default one given. When done, press the Next button. The drive letter that you assign here will be how you access the partition later.
7. In this step you will determine how you would like the new partition to be formatted. For the most part you are advised to use the NTFS file system.
8. Type a name in the Volume Label field that will be associated with this partition or leave it blank.
9. Finally press the Next button and you will come to a summary screen. Review how the partition will be created, and if you are satisfied, press the Finishbutton to complete the creation and formatting of your new hard disk partition.
When the computer finishes creating and formatting the new partition you will be presented with the Disk Management screen again and will see that you have a new partition and drive letter on your computer. Now you can use that drive to start storing your data.
iF YOU HAVEN'T INSTALLED WINDOWS OS HERE'S LINK THAT WILL HELP
