Garmin nuvi 1390T Car GPS Receiver - Page 3 Questions & Answers
I have a Garmin 1300 series. It has stopped
The batteries in these devices tend to last several years under "normal" conditions of use.
If the unit is less than a year old, it should be covered under the Garmin's warranty. Gather your proof of purchase (sales slip, etc.) and contact
Garmin Customer Support. They'll solve the problem for you most likely by sending you a newly factory overhauled 1390T. This means you won't get YOUR GPS back - but rather a different one. Be sure to back up and remove any personally identifiable info on your GPS before sending it to Garmin. Your replacement 1390T will have the latest maps installed on it already. Simply register it like you did with the first one on their site and you're done!
I hope this helps & good luck!
How to find a stolen garmin nuvi
There's little you can do besides reporting in stolen to the police and maybe checking out local pawn shops or scanning ebay & craigslist for used GPS devices offered for sale in your area.
There is little the police will do as they probably lack the manpower to search for these items - and doing it yourself can place you in harms way - depending on the character of the person selling the device. It is also possible, but probably not very likely, that the person selling it does not know it was stolen.
You should have proof of purchase - basically the box and serial number - and have police present when making the transaction if they are interested in assisting you with the GPS recovery process.
Most likely though, you will not find your GPS. The police will not really be interested in doing more than accepting a stolen property report that you fill out yourself. All you can really do is not leave valuables in sight or really even unattended in a vehicle. You should make use of Garmin's Theft Lock technology - which basically renders the GPS useless without knowing the unlock PIN. While this won't prevent theft (or get it back), you can get some satisfaction knowing that even though you can no longer use the GPS - the thief can't either.
My Garmin nuvi 1390T will unlock the screen
Hello,
Try performing a soft reset or a hard reset to the unit.
The soft reset is done by holding down the power button for at least 10 seconds and allowing the unit to power back on.
A
hard reset is done by pressing and holding the bottom right hand corner
of the screen while the power is off and then pressing the power button
on. A pop up will appear asking to confirm the reset.
The hard reset will erase the user data, so it is advisable to save the data if possible.
Installing and running the Garmin WebUpdater to load or reload the latest update will resolve most issues.

My Garmin nuvi 1390 stuck on the garmin splash
Hello Brian,Sorry it took a couple days to get to the point of solving your problem with your Garmin. I wanted to do the best I can to help you. So i spent some time and I personally called via my resources A friend of mine the deals with Garmin direct. With our research and phone tag with Garmin, the results are in. It appears the problem is in a chip inside called the logic board, is or has become faulty. That is the reason it will not be recognized on the computer as well as the manual boot override will not solve this problem. They told me this I quote: They state it is a defective/substandard part being used in the unit that is not the customers fault however they said that the unit is automatically covered through manufacture warranty. Bottom line is this, the unit has to be sent in for repair, but if its not under warranty, then the cost for repair, compared to buying a new refurbished one, would not be practical. Here is what I have done in the past with great success. With many gps, when there not working correctly and there out of warranty, I write them a letter direct, and brag how much i love the unit and so forth. You know really build up up (ego boost) then state that you are wanting to keep bragging to your friends about how great the unit is, but your little embarrassed now, as unit is not working correctly and if there is anyway they can solve this problem.I have had about a 90% positive result with a letter like that, even to the point of them sending out a new unit even when warranty was expired. So, I am sorry, there is no buttons to push, or boots up to fix it, this is a problem internal with the logic board. I hope this helps, that was with tons of phone calls and me digging into problem fully. Thanks Mike
Trying to find where to register my nuvi 1390
Go to the following website:
https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/customers/myGarminHome.facesYou can register yourself as well as your Garmin product. If you have the USB cable that should have come with your GPS unit you can plug one end into your GPS, and the other into your computer. After loading a small program the site will automatically register your unit, and then take you to a site that will allow you the choice of downloading maps, extras for the GPS, and other useful items. If you don't have the cable, you can still manually enter the model and serial numbers. Depending on your model number, you are allowed either one free map update if you register within 90 days of your purchase date, or you might have lifetime updates if your model came with that feature.
Thank you for the opportunity to assist you in resolving your issue.
Should you need further information or assistance please do not hesitate
to let us know.
I have a Garmin 1390T SAT NAV which when connected
Its not a charger or battery related problem. Its a software error in your Garmin. The software is got corrupted or missing. So its not able to go further then " loading maps" screen. And due to that it shuts off.In some other cases, this same problem is seen, but Garmin hangs on loading maps screen and nothing goes further.---- This all are software related problem. The software will be reloaded by Garmin. If its in warranty, then it will be free software loading but if its out of warranty, then software reloading will be charged by Garmin.

- Press TOOLS (The spanner icon at the bottom right corner of the screen showing WHERE TO and VIEW MAP) I know it'll take a bit of trial and error to find it in Polish.
- Press SETTINGS (The spanner icon) or LOCALE (The blue icon) on models that don't have a settings icon
- Press LANGUAGE (The lips icon)
- This will bring you to a screen with 3 items; VOICE, TEXT LANGUAGE and KEYBOARD
- Press VOICE and select the voice of a person from an English speaking country
- Press TEXT LANGUAGE and select English

Hello,
Are you able to hook the unit up to the PC via USB, if you are able to get it into mass storage mode i would try giving the unit an update using Garmins WebUpdater Software. Often with new firmware updates issues like that are fixed, you may want to also try updating your phone aswell.
Hope this helps!
The unit would shut off
Goto the Garmin website to see if there is a new firmware you can download and see if that fixed your problem, if not then the unit is defective and it needs to be repaired by Garmin or a local repair shop.

Hi
connect your gps to your computer and run the garmin web updater program (free from garmin).
Make sure you have all the firmware updates as every now and again they readjust the satellite information to correct position errors.

Hello ! i would Like To Know, How To Do A hard
GPS SYSTEMS HAVE A TENDENCY TO LOSE CONNECTIVITY TO SATILLITES BECAUSE OF BAD WEATHER, CLOUD COVER, TUNNEL ENTRANCE, BAD OR NO POWER, BATTERY LIFE HAS BEEN EXPENDED, HAZARD OF ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE TO GPS SYSTEMS, AND IMPROPER VEHICLE MOUNTING AND HAND HELD POSITION. FREE SOLUTIONS 1. ALWAYS PLACE YOUR GPS DEVICE IN THE UPPERMOST PORTION OF YOUR VEHICLE SO THAT THE GPS SIGNAL MAY EASILY LOCATE YOUR DEVICE EVEN WHEN THE WEATHER IS BAD 2. KEEP YOUR BATTERY CHARGED ONLY WHEN IT NEEDS IT MOST AND AVOID CHARGING OFTEN 3. IF YOU OVERCHARGE YOUR GPS DEVICE, YOU WILL EXPERIENCE BATTERY LEAKAGE, WHICH CAN EAT AWAY AT YOUR CLOTHING, DESTROY YOUR DEVICE IN SECONDS, AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOUR VEHICLE SEATS 4. YOUR GPS DEVICE HAS A TENDENCY TO FREEZE BECAUSE OF THE SIM AND MEMORY CHIPS LOCATED WITHIN IT 5. YOU CAN FIX THE FREEZING PROBLEM BY REMOVING THE SIM CHIP AND MEMORY CHIP AND RESTARTING YOUR SYSTEM 6. OTHER FREEZE PROBLEMS OCCUR BECAUSE THE DEVICE IS COLD WHEN IT IS KEPT IN THE VEHICLE AND CHIP CREEK OCCURS WHERE THE DEVICES MICROCHIPS BECOME LOOSE AND TIGHTEND BECAUSE OF WARM AND COLDER AIR FLUCTUATIONS. IT IS BEST TO KEEP THE DEVICE IN A PURSE OR ON A TABLE WHERE IT IS NOT SUBJECT TO CONSTANT TEMP. CHANGE 7. PREVENTION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE IS BEST SOLVED BY: interference from devices located nearby, and even a radio turned on and located really close to your unit. This is normally known as electromagnetic interference to electronics and is very common
