I am assuming you are looking for a way to get a video signal from the TV to the recorder. Most TVs already have a composite video input. If you want to get a signal to your recorder, there are HDMI to composite video converters available for around $30 US. There are also composite video to HDMI converters. You can then get the audio from the audio out (headphone) jack.

All the buttons/features on the remote can be tested with a remote tester---rule the hand unit out first.Many remotes can also be tested in a dark room with a digital camera--point remote at camera with it on and press suspect buttons--the camera should react on its display screen with a faint flash.

If the CC option does not appear that is something really wrong! If you are using a box (cable or sat) look as it may also have the CC option--and in most areas the set and the box (either one) will provide this if set to CC1.

I am not familiar with the Time Warner remote, but Tivo remotes require pressing "tv power" and the "Tivo" button at the same time to program them.
Maybe you are pressing one a little ahead of the other.

Bad power supply, most likely. Take the back off and look around to see if any capacitors are bulged out. These need to be replaced with the same farad value, most likely 1000uF, but the voltage can be increased a little if need be.

If this doesn't work, you can try looking up the power supply online by the board number on the side.
(The power supply board will have the plug for the wall leading to it)

You can do this by yourself all you have to do is to open the back cover of the television to check the faulty components. to fix you must have basic knowledge on electronics .

The fuses are there to protect the set from catching on fire in case there's a short circuit inside the set. Now in some cases an intermittent short can work after you replace the fuse but if its burnt black or brownish, there's a circuit inside the set in one of the circuits. always use a 100 watt light bulb across a blown fuse if your not sure if there is a short. if there is, the light will absorb the short and glow bright. if there is no short the bulb will glow bright , then go down very dim. you could have a main power supply problem, such as shorted bridge rectifiers,shorted main b+ capacitor, Hot could be shorted, or the Vertical or audio output IC could be shorted.
