At first the refrigerator side was freezing
if the fan was loud you could have a bad evap fan motor,is there ice on the inside back wall of the freezer?if there is you have a defrost problem and ice could be built up around the fan motor and the blade,when the blade hit the ice that could be the noise you were hearing and now the ice is stopping it from spinning at all.if there isn't any ice on the wall you could have a bad computer board,part number wr55x10942,i've seen g.e.'s that when the water and ice didn't work and the temp was warm it was the board but when you say the fan was loud it makes me think you could be iced up in there.also if the fan motor was reving up and slowing down the board could cause that,let me know if there's like snow or ice on the freezer wall and i can help you out
For a GE refrigerator model GFSF6KEX, how do you remove the ice tray? (Not the freezer drawer, just the tray.)
To remove the ice tray from your GE refrigerator model GFSF6KEX, follow these steps:

Verify that the tray is properly inserted by pulling it forward. It should hit the stops on the rail and not come out. If it does, push the tray further back.
