GE GSH25JFR Side by Side Refrigerator - Page 9 Questions & Answers
I see a red light like something is red hot behind
Those are the defrost heaters and glows red hot when defrost action is active. It should turn off when defrosting is complete or when the temperature is about 46 degrees Fahrenheit. If it does not turn off, the freezer will not function properly or it will be warm than normal. Have the defrost sensor assembly checked by a qualified technician.
GE Hotpoint refridgerator making constant tick
Pull the refrig out and behind it , you will see an 8 " X 10 " panel . Remove this panel , and feel if the clicking , is coming from on of the black modules . If so , then you need to replace that board , main control board . Be careful when touching the modules , and only touch the modules , as they are coated in a plastic shell .
Water running out the lower part of the freezer,
If you look behind the bottom two baskets, you'll notice a white bottle attached to the back. This is the water reservoir bottle for the water on your freezer door. It probably has a pin hole leak. Pull out the baskets, and then try to dispense some water. You should notice water spraying out. I found my water bottle on the following website:
www.partselect.com. I hope this helps
Freezer making ice but no water from dispenser
There is a blockage somewhere in the refrigerator water lines. I have found that plastic weedeater line is good for running through these lines and reaming out whatever is blocking them.
Have 36 in monogram refridgerator.....after
You will need to adjust both door at the same time. You will need a 5/16 wrench. Loosen the hinge screws on the top. Try to line one door with the center post between the doors. Open it and see if it closes by it's self. If so, go to the other door. line it up with the other door, allowing about 1/2" between them. Now see if it will close by it's self. If not, you will have to play with it. The only other adjustment is on the bottom. You will need a3/8" wrench (some have 1/2" screws). loosen screws on one side, have someone pull door up until the top is even with the top if unit. Tighten and then do the same with the other side.Once you have this done, adjust the top hinges. Good luck.
Artica black water supply line cracked/broken

Water dispenser quit dispensing but the ice maker
Chances are that one of the 2 valves in the assembly is bad. It is on the refrig in back, where the water supply line connects. remove the connector to the water dispenser valve (the other is for the icemaker) and connect a jumper power cord to it and then to the wall outlet, momentarily. If water comes out the dispenser, then the valve is good but the switch on the door is bad. If the valve does not hum, the valve is bad.
I have seen the water dispenser lines freeze in the back of the refrigerator, near the water cooling tank or coils, preventing dispensing of water.
GE Arctica intermittant clicking sound, panel flashes "hrs"
It sounds like the main control board is going bad . This controls every part on the fridge , except for the light bulbs . It's located on the back of the refrig , behind an 8" X 10" panel , with about 11 screws , holding the panel on . Part number WR55X10656 .
Freezer works great, fridge not cold. about 60
And you are posting because,.......????? You are looking for a second opinion? Don't like the repair estimate?
1. Your freezer is not working great. If it is frosting up, frozen packages will soon beging to soften also.
2. All of the cooling takes place in the freezer compartment. A fan blows air over the coils in the freezer, and directs some of it into the fresh foods side to cool it. When the coils become blocked with frost, the air can no longer flow into the fresh foods compartment. Result is warming of FF area. You may also see freezing in the bottom FF bin, water dispenser not working, FRZ section warm, etc.
3. Manually defrosting the coils will temporarilly solve your problem, but it will reappear in a few days to a week or so. (depending on door openings, ambient temp, etc)
4. The motherboard controls the defrost interval and (although not the most common) certainly can be a cause of defrost failure. If a qualified servicer diagnosed it as such, it most likely is just that.
Refrigerator is not working...
nongbu2380 lets see what happens. Those model remember how long the door was open. It's in the memory so it tried to keep up the cooling while the dore was open and may have missed a defrost. You may get it to cycle correctly again by unplugging for a few minutes so the control board will reset. If you continue to have problem I will send you the instructions to put the refrigerator in self diagnostics or to manually reset the board. Hope to help, let me know, Sea Breeze
Freezer Defrosts on its own
Yes it is supposed to. Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use
and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater
comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips
into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the
freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.
If it seems to defrost too long and start thawing the contents then the defrost thermsotat may be bad. It's purpose is to stop the defrost heater when the temp reaches around 32 degrees. If it doesn't work the heater will stay on for the entire defrost cycle and possible melt things.
