What version of windows do you have? XP and Vista should work with built in drivers. If you have 98 or ME, you would need a mass storage driver that it appears RCA themselves dont provide.
Try this with the MP3 player plugged in.

Right Click on My Computer and select Manage
Expand the System Tools tab if needed
Select Device Manager

Look for any object with a yellow circle/black exclamation mark

If you see one for the MP3 player, right click, select properties, go to the
driver tab, then click uninstall.

Then, unplug and reconnect the MP3 player and reinstall.

I don't think that it is possible to remove the battery without disassembling the mp3 player.
However, if you would just like to reset it press and hold the MENU/Power button for at least 10 seconds. This should unfreeze it.
If it is still not responsive, wait for the battery to die and then plug it into your computer and restore it.

This could be because there is a DRM on the track and you need to register to play it.

Attempt to "format" the MP3 player through settings, or revert it to Factory Defaults. NOTE!!! This will delete EVERYTHING youve put onto the mp3 player, but may fix the problem. However this is a last resort, for a simpler way of troubleshooting, try to uninstall the drivers and software that came with the MP3 player and reinstall them. This may fix your problem when trying to access the player through your computer. If not, formatting may be your only option.

Have you converted them to mp4 format? Most mp3/mp4 players require converting of the video files in order to play.

There are a couple options:
Option 1: There should have been a file on the player that you can access through Windows Explorer (My Computer, click on the dirve that is your player) that should be named: RCAeasyRip_setup.exe

If you do not have this file, it can be downloaded from the RCA site here:

Run this file to install the RCA easyRip software that allows you to manage your media (both on your PC and your device). Use the Player Library module in easyRip to view the contents of your device and you can select files for deletion.

Option 2: Go to My Computer, find the drive letter associated with your device (Lyra Slider) and simply find media on there that you want to remove, and delete it.

Run this file to install the RCA easyRip software that allows you to transfer all media. You HAVE to use this application to transfer videos because it does the conversion to a compatible format (if Windows Media Player can play it, easyRip should be able to convert it). Any questions you have about using easyRip can be accessed by the module on the dock that has a '?' on the icon for it (Look up the Player Loader module for how to transfer).

For other media you can just drag and drop to the device if you don't care about video (again, just find the drive letter that is your player in My Computer and just drag and drop music and photos onto that drive)

Lastly, you can use Windows Media Player to sync any music and photo files.

The software installer is located on the device. Go to My Computer and find the drive letter associated with your player (Lyra Slider). Open the drive and find the file called "rcaeasyRip_setup.exe". Run this file to launch the easyRip installer.

Run any disk checking utility like scandisk, checkdisk etc. Check the virus also, it may have a virus.
