When I push the start

Check to see if you can rotate the drum. if you cant then you need to check the blower wheel. If you can then hold the door switch in and start the dryer. if it starts to hum rotate the drum while holding the door switch in. if it runs on it own after you rotate it then you need a new motor

Kenmore dryer will not heat up

I couln't bring anything up using the model number you gave, but generally an electric dryer will have heat if the heating element gets the signal from the switches and it is not open.

If everything works beside the heat, then I would make sure that the heat selector switch is operational and if it is then to replace the heater element.

My dryer will not turn on, when i press the start

If the dryer still heats, but the drum does not turn, this is commonly the symptom of a broken dryer belt. Another cause of a dryer failing to tumble can occur is the drive motor seizes up. Most often (and less expensive) the drive belt either slips off the tensioner, or breaks.

If the model number is correct, installing a new dryer belt for this dryer involves the following steps:

1. UNPLUG the dryer and remove the lint screen from the chute on top of the dryer.

2. Remove the two screws that were under the lint screen and lift the top panel. NOTE: You should be able to see the dryer belt tightly wrapped around the drum. If the belt isn't present, its a good sign that it has snapped and may be laying in the bottom of the cabinet.

3. Unplug the door switch conector plug and any ground wire that may be installed on the casing.

4. Locate the two screws that hold the front panel in place. There should be one screw on each side in the cabinet interior.

5. With the door shut, lean against the front panel and remove the two screws that hold it in place. Once the screws are removed, grasp the front panel at the top center and lift straight up to remove.

You should now have complete access to the dryer interior. If the belt is broken, this may cause the idler pulley (tensioner) to come loose. This is normal with no tension on the pulley to hold it in place. To install a new belt (if required) and re-install the pulley, follow these steps:

1. Loop the drive belt around the dryer drum with the ribbed side facing the drum. (Try to line the belt up with the wear marks already on the drum from the previous belt).

2. With the tensioner in your left hand, insert the clip end of the idler pulley into the grooves on the dryer bottom casing with the idler wheel pointing to your left. (The grooves are directly in front of the drive motor.)

3. While holding the tensioner in place, insert the belt UNDER the wheel with your right hand and pull it up and over the drive motor pulley.

If this does not explain it well enough, you can also verify by going to repairclinic.com. Click on the Repair Help link and look for the "Dryer Belt Diagrams" link under the Special Features section on the next page. Look for Roper and refer to diagram H.

Replacement parts (if required) can be ordered on line at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The part number for a replacement belt is 341241. All these sites offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites I have listed also inlcude helpful exploded view diagrams that can help you locate and properly indentify the parts you may need.

NOTE: If you still have the teflon glide type tensioner (non-roller type), Whirlpool recommends you replace it with a conventional roller type idler pulley. The teflon type tensioners caused premature wear to the drive belt. The part number is 691366.

Once you have the belt installed, re-install the dryer front panel by holding it as you did previously. Line up the holes on the inside bottom edge of the front panel with the small mounting cleats on the front edge of the side panels. This can be done by yourself, but an assist may make it easier. Once you have the front panel in place, lean against it to hold it in place and install the mounting screws.

NOTE: Don't forget to reconnect the grounding wire and door switch connector plug. Without the door switch connected, the dryer will not run. Lower the top panel back in place and reinstall the two screws.

NOTE: Placing a piece of duct tape over the dryer vent chute will help safeguard against dropping anything down in the blower fan assembly. If you drop any screws down the chute, you will need to remove the dryer back panel to retrieve them. If you have any questions about this repair, oir if you own a different model, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Kenmore 600 timer no longer works

This is not an easy task. you will need to disassemble the entire control panel to extract the bad or faulty timer. Extraction can be tough on some model. this will cause an inexperienced do it yourselfer to break off fragile retaining clips and screw anchors as well. you will also need to make sure that the wiring harness is re attached to the new replacement timer correctly. this is important. We recommend calling for service on all electrical repairs if you have minimal experience in this field of repair. Unfortunately , when these timers are damaged, you cannot repair them. you will need to replace the bad timer with a entirely new timer.

Drum spins off center and clothes get stuck between drum and casing

If your clothes get marked or torn in your dryer, check these:

Rollers
Rear seal
Front glides
Front seal
Rollers Your dryer may use rollers, or wheels, to support the rear of the clothes drum. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rollers wear out, you need to replace the whole set.

Rear seal Your dryer may have a felt-like seal at the rear of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, clothes can get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rear seal wears out, you need to replace it.

Front glides Your dryer probably uses nylon or plastic glides at the front of the clothes drum for support. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the glides wear out, you need to replace them as a set.

Front seal Many dryers have a felt-like seal at the front of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, the clothes in the dryer may get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the seal wears out, you need to replace it.
