Hello,
Welcome to FixYa.
The most likely problem based on your description is the hi-limit safety thermostat is tripped.
To save time and back and forth dialog, I`ll just lay out what to do about it.
**Unplug the dryer before attempting any repair tips suggested here please...safety first**
If you`ve already taken the back of the dryer off to gain access you should have no problem, other wise it is a bit of a challenge.
If you want to post an email address I can attach a service manual file that will show "how to", it's your call.
There is good news though once you reach the hi-limit, the hi-limit cut out can be "reset" with the push of a button, you can see through the back vent opening when the vent is removed and then by pushing the red button in...shown below, but it will require the removal of the rear panel the very first time, so let me know if you require further assistance to do this.
i.e.
If you observe the side of the heater box you'll see a resettable thermostat, like this...
Oush the red button in the center and that should reset the dryer.
When you see this thermostat on the side of the heating element housing, push it in and it should "click" and you'll be back in business...once you reassemble the unit of course.
Careful not to move the drum too much as that will likely trip the emergency shout off switch on the motor bracket assembly.
i.e.
Keep me posted how you make out or if anything is not clear. Thanks for choosing FixYa and good luck.
Regards,
Macmarkus :)
No heat
it could be the hi/lo switch has tripped too... it is a small (1 in or little bigger) black fuse looking element with a red post sticking out of the center... push in on the red post... if it clicks audibly it was probably your problem. I've had this happen several times on mine and am trying to figure out what causes the thing to trip in the first place...
Not heating up
Hi pinkpokadot...
ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Check to make sure you are getting full 220 Volt power to the dryer, if you are then:
Check your Wiring
Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. If this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.
Check the Door Switch
If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. Check for continuity you should have none with door open, and should have a reading when closed. If not replace the door switch.
Check to make sure you heating problem is not a lint build up in the discharge hose or the dryer,as this condition can cause heater/thermistor problems such as overheating of the heating coil leading to failure of the coil and burnout of the thermostat/thermistor due to overheat.
Remove the back/or front just under the door of the machine and try to locate the air duct going from the blower to the drum. Normally inside/outside the air duct you will find the heating coil and the thermostats/thermistors. Once you have located the heating coil, remove the two wires from it and check the coil with an ohm meter across the two terminals of the coil.
You should read continuity across the terminals, if not you will need to replace the coil as it is faulty.
If the heating coil is ok, then:
You can check the thermostat/thermistor one at a time by removing the two wires and taping them together with electrical tape.
If you have an ohm meter then you can test the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse,
then you do not have to tape the wires together as described above.
If the coil heats up then replace the thermostat/thermistor/thermal fuse as it is faulty.
DO NOT LEAVE THE WIRES TAPED TOGETHER AFTER THE TEST AS THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE BECAUSE YOU HAVE REMOVED THE SAFETY.
If the thermal fuse overheats the dryer will not operate. It's located on the blower housing. It cannot be reset. A vent clogged with lint can cause it to overheat. You can test it with an Ohm meter or continuity checker, if no continuity, replace it)
Right after replacing a dryer element, always run the dryer on 'air fluff' / 'no heat', and go outside to verify there's plenty of air coming out your vent system.
If the vent's clogged, that new element can burn out very quickly.

My bosch dryer wont heat
Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

I am experiencing too much
It normally takes
about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more
than an hour, check these.

Vent
Frequently
there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the
house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint
or any other substance.
Heating element
Your dryer's
heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats,
but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry
the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it.
Internal
ductwork
Your dryer has
some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In
most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to
substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is
to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the
duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a
qualified appliance repair technician.
Cycling
thermostat
Although this
isn't a common problem, one of the thermostats that controls the temperature in
your dryer may break and cause the dryer to heat poorly. If so, you need to
replace it. The thermostat is usually a small, round, black device mounted to
an oblong steel plate. The plate is mounted to the internal ductwork with two
screws.
