You should start by consulting with HP to see if they know of a bug related to the bios version for the specific model.

NO OS stated, are we to guess OS , windows what. XP ,vista or 7 32bit and 64bit for 6 OS delivered while produced. or W10 with the Free W10 upgrade, must I guess more? what did it have new. XP? 32bit (x86) then what do you have now, see? we cant guess what upgrades means. or updated. Hi Apextado, I see you are having problems getting your notebook to load properly. Start by trying a Hard Reset. I have attached a YouTube Video that will show you how. If that doesn't work then you can try connecting it to an external monitor to if this just an issue with the screen. If you still can't see anything then you will need to have someone take a look at the laptop. fan function is automatic ! it can turn on or of by a time! check out the hardware!

most pc's use a "hotkey" combination to adjust the brightness of the screen .This sequence changes according to brand or type of netbook/laptop.
On an acer ist Fn/(arrow keys/left or right)

Have you tried many different DVD's?
First make sure your problem is not with the player you have installed, I strongly reccomend you install VLC and make it the default player for everything music dvd etc.

Secondly, make sure your dvd player is installed properly, yes it should be plug and play but occasionally there are issues that can be solved with an updated driver. Search google for "support.hp" and the top result should be HP's support site, go to download drivers and find your model number, then install the most up to date driver for the drive.

Finally if none of the above helps, it may need looking at by a technician, just make sure they offer no-fix no-fee (like us at MCSLondon) as you never want to pay money to someone that hasnt even fixed the problem!

Doubtful try plugging a monitor into the external VGA port located on the left side or backside of that laptop. If u get video boot there ur looking at an LCD screen issue,backlight tube bad, or a bad connection from board to screen. If you get no video boot to the external monitor it may be just a bad stick of RAM.

Its not going to be a software issue 4 sure. If its new it should still be covered. Send it back either you got a defect screen or the backlight tube is bad. There could be a bad connection between the board and the screen as well. Either way its not a novice user repair job.

You don't specify what system are you using. In Windows you have to go to Control Panel, Mouse and Pointing Device properties, and find your touchpad options there, including the scroll areas.
If it's not there, chances are there is a separate application, either in Control Panel, or in the Start Menu, for setting up the touchpad. You can also look in the system tray beside the clock - often there's an icon there for the pointing device.
