5.5:4, 11:8, 22:16, & 44:32 *all* have the same ratio. Additional equal ratios can be determined by multiplying *both* the 11 and the 8 by any number. Example (1): "5" 5 x 11 and 5 x 8 for a 55:40 ratio. It is much more desirable to reduce the numbers to lowest whole form - hence expressed as 11:8 ("8 to 11"). A second example using "3/4" (or the decimal equal .75) .75 x 11 and .75 x 8 for an 8.25:6 ratio. Again, whole numbers are preferable unless they get very large.

The symbol is called a CARET and normally sits between two
numbers.... the first is called a BASE and the second is EXPONENT.
The second number signifies the amount of times the first number
is to be multiplied by itself. (2^2=4). Hope this helps.

Dennis

we have: a+b+c
the first two digits from the answer (left to right) are a*b
the second two digits are a*c
the third two are b*(a+c) but we flip the product..
so 4+5+6=202450

a + b = (a+b+1) x (b+1)
2 + 3 = 24 : (2+3+1 x 3+1)
7 + 2 = 30 : (7+2+1 x 2+1)
9 + 7 = 136
