Shimano 09 Xtr M971lc Mountain Bike Rear Derailleur Questions & Answers
Trying to figure out how
Any search engine would take "remove rear bicycle tire" and produce many good answers. Involvement of Fixya experts is an unnecessary and delaying step.
I can not pedal back and the angle of the lower
Make sure your rear derailleur is lined up with one of the rings of teeth on your rear gears( cassette ). Also make sure Your chain is riding correctly on one of the front gears on your crank. If you are still unable to back pedal make sure that one of the cogs (gears) in the rear derailleur arm isn't seized. They must both be able to rotate and the chain should pass through them in a backward S pattern. If you still can't back pedal remove the back wheel or move the chain off the cassette to see if the cassette will freewheel. It has to move freely in a counterclockwise direction in order for you to backpedal. Moving in a clockwise direction engages pawls inside the cassette which lock it into a drive situation which propels the bike. If the cassette will not freewheel in a counterclockwise direction you will need to take the rear wheel to a good bicycle shop to have the cassette replaced. It requires a special tool to remove it. Hope this helps.
How do I insert cable into my Shimano XT SL-M740 3 Speed Rapid Fire Shifter
I finished changing the cable of Shimano Deore XT SL-M740. Unfortunately it did not have the plastic screw hiding the chunk of lead at the end of the cable. I mean that there is no hole from which the cable can be pulled out. Therefore, I removed the front panel where you see "Simano Deore", but this panel only removed the shift position indicator and the internal mechanism was covered by another metal sheet. To change the cable I had to remove the small cover between the barrel adjuster and the lever. The cover is fastened by two very small screws. An encouraging sign was that one of these screws was missing. That indicated that a previous owner had removed the cover once. The cable end was attached to a component exactly like a brake cable is attached to a brake lever. This component pulls the cable around the shifter. The sift cable is not attached to the shift lever. The sift lever rotates the said component. The barrel adjuster had a slot to put the cable inside. Therefore, attaching the cable to the above component was easy. When the cover was installed, I attached the small screw to the end of a driver with silicon paste. Someone suggested to use grease, but grease is messy.
Best shimano rear drailuer for a shimano 11-46t cassette?
There is no "best" derailleur for any particular situation. Get one rated to handle the range, at a price you can afford, and that has good reviews. Performance is more affected by how well you set up derailleur and cables, as well as chain and condition of cassette, than by individual model differences.
Gear manuals for Shimano advance racing bike
what group set do you have?
Have you looked on the Shimano website? They have a lot of useful information on there, including basic gear setuo details which will generally apply to all groupsets.
I have Shimano 105 flight
Could actually be both. Squirt a small amount of lubricant between the two paddles and shift one or the other multiple times to see if they free up. If not you made to take it to your local shop where the can disassemble the shifter to see if debris has lodged itself inside.
