It is not "linking" the GPS signal to your GPS receiver. There may be a "dead spot" you are in or the unit itself has a malfunctioning RF unit within the GPS receiver.You cannot be under a bridge or other obstruction with a GPS unit for signal to reach it.

It could be the RAM inside the plotter needs to be reset, Try the following procedure:

RAM Clear

Please note this procedure will erase any saved user points such as marks and routes and will put all of the internal settings back to factory default. In addition the unit will have to reacquire satellite signals, which may take a minute or two. If you have a large number of routes and/or marks you may wish to save them to a User C-Card prior to performing the RAM clear. The User C-Card is a blank memory card that is available through your local dealer or can be purchased from C-Map directly by contacting them at (800) 424-2627.

1) With power to the GPS turned off press and
hold the ENTER key.
2) Now press and hold the PWR key.
3) Keep both keys pressed until the GPS screen lights up and you see the SYSTEM TEST page displayed, then you can release both keys.

Note: If the GPS is not able to be turned off using the PWR key you can turn power off at the breaker or disconnect the power cable, press and hold the ENTER key then turn the breaker on or plug the power cable back in.

4) Make sure that the RAM menu function is selected, then press the ENTER key.
5) A sub-menu will appear that has two selections; RAM test and RAM clear, move the shuttle point knob down to select RAM clear.
6) Press the ENTER key, a prompt will appear asking if you are sure that you want to clear the RAM. Press the ENTER key to confirm and a prompt will now appear that informs you that the RAM has been cleared.
7) Press the CLEAR key and you will be back on
the SYSTEM TEST page.
8) Press and hold the PWR key until the unit turns off, then press and hold the PWR key until the unit turns back on again.

The SD Card carries the data for the Map Reader. It is a subscription item or single pay. You can get it from a Toyota dealer or online. Disconnect the unit from power to reset it and put the code in. You will then be able to use it as a radio. Or just head off to the dealership and have a coffee while they set the whole thing up. It will take them about 20 minutes.
