HP Compaq Presario SR1053WM PC Desktop Questions & Answers
My compaq presario SR1053WM desktop computer will
ok...here we go
1) disconnect all devices except keyboad, mouse and monitor
2) unplug power cord
3) leave unplugged and hold power button in for 15 seconds
4) release the power button
5) plug back in
6) pres the power button and see if it boots up
if it does, themn it was either an ittermittent lock up of the mobo or a device conflict
if not, then either your processor or mobo is fried
just remember, the computer MUST be unplugged before you hold in the power switch, and you must release the switch before you plug it back in
failure to do so can cook several circuits at once !!

Get into the BIOS screen and make sure that the hard drive is detected under the SATA port. If not you may have to set it to auto. In some BIOS cases it is turned off by default. You may also have to turn off the IDE in the BIOS so the computer does not go looking for it. To get into the BIOS look for a screen message on startup (during or after the splash screen, before windows starts) that says something like "Press F2,Esc,Del,etc to enter setup."
Once in setup the instructions for navigating it should be somewhere on the screen.

You may have a virus, malware, adware, a browser hijacker, or pups (potentially unwanted programs). A. If your computer will boot and you can operate it ok... Download and install Malwarebytes and Superantispyware (Note: If you can\'t do the download on your machine, do it on a friend\'s, put them on a thumb drive, and install them from it). Then scan your computer with each program, and quarantine anything found. B. If your computer won\'t boot, or can\'t operate properly after boot... Tap F8 when you are booting, select "Safe Mode With Networking". Download and install Malwarebytes and Superantispyware (Note: If you can\'t do the download on your machine, do it on a friend\'s, put them on a thumb drive, and install them from it). Then scan your computer with each program, and quarantine anything found. C. If this process finds malware, to keep stuff like that from coming back, I recommend you get the paid version of Malwarebytes.Good luckG

If the fan making a smooth spin, but the noise is too loud, then it means the fan is trying to dissipate the heat. Probably the air inlet and or the air outlet (also the fan itself) is dirty (or clogged) and you need to clean it up using a canned air.
You may need to open the case/body if the dust become a dust ball (and you need a tweezer and qtip to pickup the dust ball and clean up the fan blades).
Increase virtual memory
no proberly not,you should never do so.i understand you wan't to add moore memory (RAM)windows 32x can only handle max 4 GB.windows 64x 8-12 GB.invest in some new memory (RAM) that's best.
