I can't remove Gameztar. Even in the Add/Remove control panel.

Not always, but usually if you re-install a program that won't uninstall, then you can uninstall it. I know it sounds odd, but the reason is if your uninstall files are missing or corrupt you cannot uninstall.

Cant get to f8 screen

LOL, most times those recovery CD's don't work. OK, I've never heard of hitting F8 to get to the System Recovery screen. Normally hitting F8 repeatedly after you hit the power button gets you into SAFE MODE or some other options for booting. I would remove the CD from the cd drive and turn off the computer, then turn it on and immediately hit F8 until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode option. Let it boot up. Safe mode will look different than normal windows. The icons will be bigger and the screen darker, but that's normal. Once safe mode is up click Start/Program/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. Run System Restore and select a restore point (date and time) before you started having a problem. Don't worry, system restore does not destroy your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.System Recovery DELETES EVERYTHING and sets your computer back to when it was first purchased. If you must run System Recovery F8 is not the key you should be pressing. I found the info below by putting "Alienware PC Systems M7700 System Recovery" in a google search. Sounds like you bought yourself a piece of trash.25. System Restore And Recovery Is Not For Wimps The system restore process for the Alienware Aurora M7700 is definitely not for beginners. For one thing, the process doesn't fire off automatically as promised (at least that's what we read on the label affixed to the recovery CD included with the unit). Instead, system restore involves a complete Windows XP Home reinstall "from scratch." Likewise, the drivers don't reside on the Master CD as described in the documentation. Rather, they're located on the Utility CD. During the driver installation phase, it's irritating to get no progress report on individual drivers, perhaps by way of a simple progress bar. Also irksome, the system reboots automatically after the installation of each individual driver. Finally, those who want to succeed at restoring the M7700 back to full operability better know what a disk partition is and understand that the RAID driver must be installed from a diskette.

Wont turn on, no issue with power or battery, replaced Cmos, replaced most of the parts, keyboard seems to be the key, with intermittent results when pressed just so for a short period of time on the

The keyboard has no baring on whether or not the computer will turn on. Most likely culprits would be
  1. The Battery
  2. A/C Adapter
  3. The DC jack (cold solder joints)
  4. The motherboard itself is bad

I am attempting to install

It is a 2005 machine and was designed for Vista so an upgrade from Vista to Win7 may work as the drivers will need updating as it loads one OS from the other OS.
A bios update would possibly help also.

Alienware laptop likes to shut off in the middle of games

my educated guess is that is the video controller acting up. via playing games you may be pushing your display to unstable extremes. if your game supported by the hardware you have?

can you tune down the resolution? test and see what happens?

make sure you have the correct drivers. see manufacturer's page for update drivers for vista (which should work in win7)

have you tried running the game app in say winxp mode, more info found here

the clicking may be an indications of a failing hd. see on your computers documentation or bios if there's a way to test your hd, or simply download an application called speedfan that can give you an idea of your hd performance.. I would still do a back up as soon as possible as you never know when a hd decides to fail on you, (speedfan in itself is pretty safe so it won't damage your hd or anything).

Entering bios setup

Occasionally, most computer owners will need to access BIOS on their computers in order to change or update the computer's most basic operations; such as memory and boot order.

Different computer manufacturers will have you press different buttons to access BIOS depending on the model you have. For example, on my laptop, I press F12 to enter the BIOS setup utility.

Here's how to figure out how to enter your computers BIOS setup utility. 1
Turn your computer on or shut it down and restart it if it is already on.
  • Step 2 As soon as the computer starts up, watch for a message that informs you about which button you will need to push in order to enter setup, aka BIOS.
  • Step 3 The opportunity to press the correct key to enter BIOS passes by quickly, so you need to find that key and press it before the computer moves on to the next stage of booting. If you miss your chance, just restart the computer and try again.

You can always access BIOS, even on computers that dont have an operating system installed. This is because BIOS is part of your computer's motherboard hardware and has nothing to do with Windows, Linux or whatever operating system you may be using.

My scroll feature on the touch pad on my alienware

I've seen this before and I think I know what might have happened.

Of course, I'm guessing, so bear with me.

during an update from Windows website, the touchpad drivers were updated. This was done, in all likelihood, without your knowledge.

Find the touchpad in the Device manager (I'm guessing you know your way around a computer) and look at the properties.

Then, roll back the driver and restart.

    good luck.
