Are the wires still attached to the old switch? If they are, hook them up to the new switch in the same, physical way. If they aren't attached, you might take it into a vacuum repair shop- they could probably help you figure it out, if you bought them lunch (or maybe for less). You'll have to run down a wiring diagram, otherwise, and you might try this link that was provided by another technician on this site:
