I had this same problem especially when the tank on my 5 burner 2 year-old Kenmore was about half full. The solution above fixed it. I was used to opening the gas fully, turning one burner to high and clicking the button. If I would have read the front of the grill I would have seen that this was incorrect. I turned off the grill completely, unhooked the regulator and reconnected it. With one burner on high I began clicking the button BEFORE I turned on the gas. I slowly turned the gas on one quarter turn and it lit up full flame. I slowly turned the gas another quarter turn and lit the second burner. I slowly opened the gas all the way and lit the third and so on. That did the trick!

This will sound crazy but, when the grill and gas is off have you looked underneath to make sure the gas valves are aligned to the burners? moving a grill around can dislodge the burners then the gas will not eneter the burner or the burn box as designed. think putting a bic pen back in it's cap. this is the relationship of the back of the valve to the burner

If these are aligned....
at the point where the valve meets the burner there is an opening, a venturi if you will. Bugs love these holes. spiders make nests in them, wasps and hornest make nest in them, you name it. if it is blocked with a nest the gas flows backwards and you have fire where you don't want fire. start there. Most Grills are made to easily remove the burners once the grates are off or if you look up from the ground level you can see in there (this is the path air takes to feed air to the burners. last if you have a cabinet you may need to open the doors and look up that way.
Good luck happy grilling and be safe

More than likely, the electrode spark ignitors on your main burners need to be cleaned. They will get covered with grease over time. Also check the wiring from the ignitor module to each spark ignitor being sure that all wiring is firmly in place. To clean the electrode(s) ... a cotton ball dipped in alcohol will work fine.

Hope this helped you solve the problem and Happy Grilling!

Try going to Barbecues Galore, they should help or try the natural gas filling shop, they specialize in gas grills and components, also.

Replace the hose and regulator if this is an LP grill...... or just the regulator if this is a NG grill.

Just call Sears with the model # and ask. I'm certain that all their models can be converted. If you do hook it up to your house line, I recommend 2 things. First, install a shutoff valve in the line to turn off the gas to the grill when not in use. Second, install a hose of appropriate length with a 2 piece quick-disconnect (after the shut off valve), so you can use the grill on your patio or deck and then disconnect it and store it where you want, and the grill is not in the way and you're not tripping over the hose.
