Kenmore 53509 Dehumidifier Questions & Answers
Unit shows full bucket whe bucket is empty and
I beleive the model you have, has a float valve in the top of the water collection bucket. If it's stuck in the 'UP' position, it would cause the Bucket Full Light to glow. Remove the bucket form it's holder and determine if the bucket does have the float valve. If so, jiggle the float valve arm to get it to return to the Down position.
If the unit doesn't have a float valve, installing the bucket "squarely" into it's holder from top to bottom is very important. If the bucket does not make firm contact with the bucket removal safety switch (A trigger switch), it will cause the unit to think the bucket is full. After reinstalling the bucket, be sure that the bottom of the bucket is not tilted down in any way.
Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.
No water coming out fan working; suspect out of
Freon (which is no longer used) may be the problem. However there are 5 other things that can cause the problem. And they are all solvable.
Pay particular attention to 1 & 2.
1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%.
2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.
3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.
4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.
5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air
temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.
If
none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the
compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are
5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it
can happen.Hope this helps to further troubleshoot and solve the problem.
Rear coil is freezing up
hello you may need to clean the coil with the unit unpluged you can wash it with a hose or if it has a filter clean that also if it has just dust on the outside of the coil you can use a hard brissil brush and clean it or evean vacuum it
My dehumidifier will not stop running coils frost
there is a freeze stat on the unit it connects to the evaporater coils it is suppose to shut of the compressor unit when it senses the temp is at freezing the idea is that the unit condenses moisture out of the air like your air conditioner for your house or car this part is dirty or malfunctionong
Help me fix my dehumidifier
What else is on the same circuit? Have you added any other appliances on that same circuit that were not on it before?
If no>>>you probably have a short in the unit, and it is grounding out>>>tripping the breaker before it starts a fire.
Also, check the breaker, they can go bad.
My kenmore dehumidifier compresor runs the fan
More than likely not. I would start by making sure all coils are clean, (both evap and condenser) and to make sure airflow is not being obstructed. Most factory charges appliances don't leak refrigerant and therefore should not have to be charged during there useful life. Hope this helps
Compressor does not start
some of these units have a 5 year compressor warranty on them including labor worth calling sears and seeing if it does have the 5 year on the sealed system
Compressor doesn't turn on
sound as though you need a temp control. Is there frost buld up on coil?If so it may not be humid enough .Hope i helped
Circuit breaker
SOUNDS LIKE TO ME THAT YOUR DEHUMIDIFER HAS A SHORT. SOME TIMES ITS THE PLUG OR THE CORD BUT MOST TIMES IT GETS OXIDATION FROM MOISTURE INSIDE.
