if you have TV tuner card then only you can watch on vlc

The VLC and FFDshow both use the free Libavcodecs I suggest using MediaInfo from sourceforge by Jerome Martinez to find out the actual codec that has been used then search google for the installer for the specifed codec.

Install the codec pack ie K-Lite Mega Codec or K-Lite Codec Pack @ http://www.free-codecs.com/index.htm

and you should be able to play most of the audio/video formats.

You may need to re-install it or download a more resent version that is bug free.

Codec update
You can get the latest codec pack here. Just click the Download [ K-Lite Codec Pack 6.9.0 Full ]. It comes with Windows Media Player Classic and a host of audio/video decoders needed to play any video or audio file.



Extra
If you want to customise your VLC media player you can, just head over to the VLC skins department and get the skin pack.

During playback Press H/J for subtitle sync depending on if you would like to delay or move it forward(50ms resolution). Similarly keys F/G for Audio sync. You could also view/modify the details of hot keys on VLC>>PREFERENCES>>HOT KEYS

1. OK, remove VLC Player
2. Remove K-Lite codecs (VLC doesn't need them)
3. Install these codecs designed for Vista
4. After installing, restart, and play all video and audio files with Windows Media Player

Click on Computer (or My Computer for XP). Browse to C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC. Double click on Uninstall.exe.

Download and install the latest version of VLC Player, all the required and necessary codecs will be automatically installed with it.

This sounds more like a problem with your projector than with VLC. VLC is just a player, if it works properly on the computer screen then it should work properly going through the computer using the projector as output.

There is no problem with VLC. You must be downloading a torrent and the file is partially downloaded in parts and hence VLC mixes videos. It happened to me too.. Dont Worry. Once the download is totally complete, VLC will play the complete file.

Regarding font cache it happens only the VLC is installed and launched.

VLC Search had reset my home page, so typed in a new home page URL, Viola! no more VLC Search

With this option selected when you click a music or video file to play it will play back only via VLC player. You can still play back a file with another media player, but you will have to right click on it and select the option to play back via an alternative player. Even after playing back the same file using an alternative player, the file if clicked normally will still play back via VLC player.

Open VLC Player

Click File menu-> Open Disc

Click Ok
