Do the breaker boxes wear out? Does cold and/or

You definately need to replace the panelboard/loadcenter. When you buy a new one or have one installed, it needs to be appropriate for your specific situation. If the box will be in an area where there is condensation, dust, water etc those things are listed as approved for some boxes but not all. The UL number on the replacement box will clarify exactly what each box is approved for.

How to ground a circuit breaker panel to an outside ground rod

First of all you need to have two grounding rods outside the house. Usually they're 12' long and have to be driven in 11-11.5 feet... but different particulars apply to different states and local codes. Ground rods should be placed no less than 6' away from each other and as closely placed as possible to the equipment or structure they are intended to protect.wrap the stripped 14 AWG wire tightly around the copper ground rod. Try to get it as flush against the rod as if possible so that when you heat the rod later, it bonds very strongly at all points. Then heat the copper rod, rather than the wire and allow the wire to be heated by the rod. Don't heat wires directly or instant oxidation will occur, making it much more difficult to solder. Leave the ground rod to cool off for about an hour. You would then dig the area to place the rods. The wires running off of them need to be ran to the circuit breaker box and terminated to the grounding bar. If there isn't a grounding bar in the box (only neutral) you can buy a single grounding bar specific to your box to install.

Is the a subsitute grounding bar for a PKOGTA-2?

First of all, the SQD QO120M100 is a Main Distribution Box. The ground wire from the ground rods and water pipe can be attached to either of the side ground terminal bars. Make sure the bonding screw (green screw) is used in this panel, otherwise the ground terminal bars would be isolated from the metal shell enclosure. Since the wire from the ground rod and water pipes would be a #6 bare copper, the PK0GTA-2 would be an overkill for this use. There are several holes on these side ground bars that would be appropriate for the conductor mentioned above

How do you get the

Very simple: Unhook the wire from the breaker and then pry up at the center of the box... the breaker slips over a blade at the center of the box and tucks under a pair of tabs near where the wire connects.

That is, the breakers tip up from near the center of the box toward the outside.

You can use aa flat screwdriver to go right between the breakers at the center to nudge them up to start... DO NOT put the driver in more than 1/4 inch.

About 2 months ago my Main Breaker in my 100 amp

Well breakers can weaken overtime if they are overloaded. A breaker is meant to have 80% of its capacity used, for example a 20 amp breaker should have only 16 amps of current on it. If something was changed six years ago that has loaded that breaker to its max it may have not affected it until now. Another thing would to be absolutely sure that everything running in your house is not exceeding 100 amps. Many houses these days have 200 amp panels because of how much amperage added appliance and the like will use. A licensed electrician will be needed to swap out the breaker, which will be a little expensive but shouldn't be outrageous as he will not be swapping out the whole panel, just the main breaker.

Square D circuit breaker in a home fuse panel and I have already replaced the breaker with a new one.

i strongly recommend that you get in an electrician to investigate the problem from your description of the amount of power required from your circuit breaker I would consider that there are to power wires from the back of that unit one circuit to run half the points and another wire to run the rest If only 1/2 are working, I am thinking that one of the wires at the back of the breakers is loose or come undone/broken and that will require the services of an electrician To further explain this line of thought, each circuit in a house is designed to carry a maxim of 10 amp total (wire current capacity) so that with all outlets in operation the maximum current is 10 amps if the required current allowed exceeds that the electricians break the numbers up so that a second circuit is employed again up to 10 amps max if again there was a requirement that exceeded the 20 amps ( circuit breaker amp) a second circuit breaker would be installed and a 3rd circuit and so on

Snow Storm today knocked out main power to everyone in our area for a few hours. Ever since power was restored, our 200 AMP Main trips every 2.5 to 3 hours.

Could be major safety issue. They trip when too much amperage cause them to heat up and trip the bimetal. Get an electrician now, please.

On a 60 FT. run using 12/2/G wire can I use a 25amp. breaker safely?

The size of the breaker that you are going to use on a circuit is predicated on the current draw of the appliance(s) you have on the circuit. Assume you have them all turned on, add up their respective amperages and , voila, you have a close approximation of the size of the breaker. If you do not know the amperage look for watts info. Divide the latter by voltage of 115 and you will arrive at the amps used.
