KitchenAid built in microwave model #KHMS155LSS-4.

Whirlpool is conducting a safety recall on the Kitchenaid KHMS155L series (and similar models under other brand names) that display the F2 code or have been observed self-starting. Other symptoms may be additional codes or unintelligible info being displayed, and failure to execute the command entered into the control pad. To obtain free replacement of the control panel, call Ava at Whirlpool: 1-866-640-7146, extension 6337. She will want your complete model and serial numbers and a phone number and address where you can be reached. She will arrange for A & E Factory Service to contact you to set up an appointment to come out and replace the control panel at no cost to you.

How do I get to the fuse in my microwave

It of course depends on your full model number, but since you posted under the model KHMS155LSS, I'll assume that's it.You have to remove the grille across the top and may have to remove the control panel assembly. At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes. You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here. In this model, there is one fuse (20A) and two thermostats which can be defective, any of which will render the oven dead.Dead meaning no display, no light when you open the door, and no response when you press a pad on the keypad. There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.I have a copy in my files if you don't find yours. We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Microwave model KHMS155LSS-3 turns self on

I had the same problem with the same model of KitchenAid Microwave. KitchenAid customer service will act like they never heard of the problem, although if you google it, you will find that this is a very common problem. Ask to be transferred to the safety department. After more than 6 months of complaining and several repair attempts (they replaced control panel and switches), KitchenAid finally gave me a full refund. This is a serious safety defect for which they have no fix. The product needs to be recalled, and I am willing to testify that KitchenAid was criminally negligent when this product finally causes a house fire and possibly serious injury or death.

KHMS155LSS microwave does not turn

Hi
The issue is with the door switch that is bad and should be replaced. If it was the fuse the unit will not even work, so I believe it is the door switch and I don't think that the control can go bad. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

Microwave starts and stops after 3 seconds

The problem is the magnetron, or the inverter board, "if 7 years or less" and possibily the keypad control board.

Microwave now goes through a series of clicks every 20+ seconds while operating. It now no longer heats anything.

This indicates a keypad controller problem, I recommend a professional.

F2 code on display - microwave does not heat

F2 on this model means you have a shorting membrane keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running unattended.

On this model, the membrane keypad is available already mounted on a new control panel frame. It runs a little more, but saves a lot of time consuming and aggravating work.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you remove a few more screws and disconnect the wires.

It is part # AP3673562 (same as 8205018) and runs $80.97 + shipping here.
