Check battery state

Same as a 12-volt cell, charge the battery fully first, then let sit a few hours. Get a hydrometer from the nearest auto store, and measure the specific gravity of each cell (directions and measurements will be in the package). Each cell should read a value (for instance 1.20). If all are in the good range, then something else is going on. If one is low (for instance 1.0, while the rest are 1.2), try to run the battery down pretty low, then fully recharge it again, then retest. If same problem, that low cell is dying. Not much you can really do about it though, once a cell starts failing the battery is pretty much done for. Although it'll be hidden some, because you have 24 cells averaging out to 48V, so a cell that should be "2.0" nominal, reading only 1.0V for instance, isn't going to make much difference. However the rest of the cells are going to begin having problems quickly as they reverse charge through the dead cell, etc. It'll also affect other batteries, as they begin to reverse charge through the dying battery, or fail to completely charge (or overcharge) as a result of the charging circuit trying to get back to 48V. (If you only have 46V of nominal cell capacity (due to one dead cell), the charger is going to want to keep charging until it reaches 48V (actually higher, the fully-charged cutoff is above nominal, not going into that here). So basically it's going to overcook the rest, trying to get to that peak value that it wants to reach.

Question posted under 240volt R8806P101C timer.

240Volt line, both hot wires, line1 and line2, are identical so wire color doesn't matter and either wire can connect to either terminal.

R8806P101C terminal block has 4 screws. 1 2 3 4 from left to right.
240volt wire from circuit breaker connects to terminals 1 and 3
Wire going to 240Volt Load connects to terminals 2 and 4

Question posted under R8806P101C 240Volt sprinkler timer.
With different timer, add a comment for possible help:

Open following links to identify timer and replacement parts, and see typical manual:

Your timer is stuck ON.
Temporarily disconnect ground wire at pump to make sure short is not somehow completing 240Volt circuit.
Move toggle switch to Auto position, and then ON and then OFF > Toggle should be able to switch Load on-off. If toggle is problem, then order 133T1115A switch.
Note if the timer dial is rotating and keeping good time: if dial is not rotating, then replace WG733-14D clock motor.
If dial is rotating, the trippers might be worn down. Order 156T1950A trippers.
If dial is rotating, and trippers are good, then relay might be bad. Order 143T139A relay.

I have 4 zones can run them manually; but they

If zones are not advancing, then 1) Clock motor is not rotating dial > replace clock motor, 2) on-off trippers are worn down > replace trippers, 3) or the day skipper is set to skip all days and all skipper pins are pushed down, 4) or sprinkler valve is bad.

The sprinkler timer dial rotates each 24 hours. The trippers cause sprinkler head to turn on zone 1 for example. Zone 1 waters until the dial rotates to part of dial with no tripper. Without a tripper on the dial, the timer turns off circuit to sprinkler. At this point, the sprinkler valve mechanically advances to zone 2 and waits for timer to turn off again. The timer does not advance sprinkler to next zone > the sprinkler valve is designed to advance each time circuit turns off. The timer just turns on and off. When next tripper rotates around, the timer turn on the circuit and zone 2 begins to water.

The silver pin inserted at 12midnight position is for advancing the day skipper wheel.

If manual override works, look to see if dial rotates on time for full 24 hours. If dial keeps good time, then timer clock motor is wired correctly. If dial stops rotating after tripper passes, then wiring is wrong. If trippers are absent or worn down then timer will not turn Load on-and-off.

If the yellow dial is not keeping time first check to see if the motor is wired correctly. If yellow dial is keeping time make sure you have the pins inserted correctly. see the parts list here.
