Thank you for including model number. Intermatic catelog shows that T40404R is shipped with two T104M timer mechanisms. However the mechanisms can be changed out for either T101M or T104M, and these timers can be wired many different ways so there is not 100% certainty unless you know or test voltages.
Here's the general difference T101M is 120 Volt with 120Volt clock motor T104M is 240 Volt with 240Volt clock motor

What exactly is your question, stop the clock from controlling and stay in off position or instantaneous switch to off?, but will cycle on and off in the future. There are dogs that control the on and off and the dogs can be moved or removed. There is a shiny white lever below the disk that when operated will switch on and off power to the load being controlled.
It sounds like the actuator pin may have broken off on the backside of the clock dial. They do sell just the internal portion of the T101 as a replacement.
